About to be a FNP45 owner

Well, I finally decided to get one of these to give a try...went down to the local Cabela's today
and put an all black one with High caps and in the new "suitcase" that comes with a shooters pack
housed inside along with the pistol.
I find it funny that the FNH USA website makes no mention of some of the features of this all black variant pistol
- like active safety, and ability to carry cocked and locked....they just mention the DA/SA, with Hammer drop part.

I will have this one in hand in about three weeks...noticed it does have a different trigger pull that the FNP9
here at the house in both DA and SA

Not very cheap around here....649.95, but I had 40.00 in Cabela's points that brought it down a little bit.

(I picked up a excellent condition 1979 vintage Ruger Blackhawk in .30 m1 carbine last week...still havent gotten to go out to shoot it) and a revolver for my son's 21st birthday the week before that- They are starting to know me by name around Cabelas lol

Congrats, I love mine, and I'm buying another one from Tanners. I use the winchester USA 45auto rounds 230 grain FMJ. I get them cheap from Walmart ($30 per 100). I use the federal hydro shock for home. Let me know if there are any questions you have. I also got a different backstrap from FNH. The one I had wouldn't stay put.

Thanks FN Addict, I'm looking forward to trying it out....I've carried the 230gr Hydrashoks on duty in the past when I've carried M1911s and found they feed in most anything quite well
and have a good track records in actual shooting incidents.
I have to say that I'm really impressed with the 3 dot sights they are putting on these pistols. The flat backstrap seems to be the favorite one amoung the FNP45 owners that have posted on the various boards...and happens to be the one installed from the factory on the one I'm getting(feels good to me too)

I agree about the 230gr Hydrashoks. Never had a misfire or malfunction. I do hear that Elite has some .45 for available also. I've never tried them, but I'm sure they are probably better.

I've never seen the HTS round that has been fired. WOW that is great expansion and I'm sure those "wings" do some tearing as they spin in. The 9mm surprised my also.

It is sold as a LEO round, but you can buy it from places like ammunitiontogo.com.

Oh yes, and it comes in boxes of 50, not this 20 BS like other SD ammo.

Thanks for the info. My Glock 30 is on my bedstand it just might get a little booster. I don't carry it anymore since getting my USG. But it's good for the middle of night problem.

I found my FNP45 had hardly any more recoil than my FNP9. It is an amazing pistol. I'm still trying to find a CCW holster. Don't want any IWB. My carry gun is the FNP9 with a Hoffner hybrid warrior OWB. It is well made a comfortable. It fits the 9 and the 40.

I have carried for years FED 230gr HS. Damn good bullet. I still have at least one full mag of them tucked in with my 45s.

Never thought I would replace them until Hornady came out with the XTP. About a year ago they released the 230gr version after having the 180s out a while. The 230XTP is what we use for our line of SD 45acp.

If you want the cocked-n-locked capability you will need to get the USG model. Standard model has decocker only. Good luck on your purchase.
