FNP-40 Initial impression

I bought a FNP-40 today and must say I am impressed. I have found that if FN is stamped on it, then it is well put together. I had been researching this particular pistol and been a little concerned over some consistent negative reviews mainly to do with wear on the slide at the take down lever due to poor tolerances leading to slop between the slide and frame. The one I purchased today has no play(slop) so I guess that FN engineers fixed the issue in manufacture. It shot very well- no feed or extraction problems and at 15-20 ft held excellent groups. I put approximately 300 rds through it this afternoon with no problems.
I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a mid-priced quality weapon.

how does recoil compair to, as an example, a glock 22?

I would say a little less than the Glock. It has been a while since I have fired one though. I have a SW MP-40 and had it at the range today as well. The difference between it and the FNP recoil wasn't noticeable. The FNP seemed smoother comparing DA only since the SW is DAO. Single action required very little trigger pull. All in all could see myself utilizing the FNP as CCW once I install the night sights I ordered and find the right IWBH.

I use my FNP .40 for CCW. The night sights are a must. I've owned both a Glock and S&W M&P. The FNP is hands down better.

I've noticed some of that wear, you mentioned, on my new fnp-40. It seems to be common and supposedly does not get worse after a few hundred rounds.

I love my FNP40. Its simple, solid and effective. But it will never replace my FsN as my daily carry. There's just something about the light recoil and having 21 rounds readily available that just makes me breathe a little easier.
