Forum Match #2 - Top Shot Nominations

Post by jgreenberg01 » 14 May 2012, 18:18

Top Shot Nomination Range

Congratulations Team FsN, you have been chosen to participate in this special edition of Top Shot Five-seveNForum!

Welcome to the nomination range. You have been given the opportunity to show us (on youtube TV) what kind of marksman you are. We do things a little differently here so you will not be nominating your favorite admin/moderator... your challenge is to nominate all 9 of them plus our special sponsor.

And there won't be any sissy up-close-so-you-can't-possibly-miss shots, you will be shooting from 100 yards.

RULES:

• You are limited to 10 shots only.
• Any rifle can be used.
• Any optic can be used.
• Any support (sand bag, bipod, monopod, etc.) can be used
• The catch - it has a time limit of 1.5 minutes (that's less than 10 seconds per shot) so don't take too much time to line up your shot.
• Your target is the round portion, NOT the rectangle below.

SCORING:

• Any hit on the inside orange circle is worth 10 points (a hole touching any portion of that ring counts).
• Any hit in the outer orange ring is worth 5 points (a hole touching any portion of that ring counts).
• Hitting the rectangle without the hole touching a ring is a miss.
• A miss is worth zero.
• Submitting a video of the shoot is worth a 5 point bonus.
• As always the honor system applies... no cheating! :)
• Use the target below:

http://i.imgur.com/VNdne.png" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Note: you will need to save the image to your hard drive then before printing, go to page setup and change from portrait to landscape to get the target to print correctly.

You can post your pics/scanned targets/videos in this thread. If you don't know how to do that send me a PM and I will help. As soon as new entries are posted, the standings will be updated in the thread's second post.

Good luck!

hah, I don't have skill.

I just like to hang around with you guys and act like an idiot. That's a lot more fun than shooting.

Ok... maybe just as fun. :)

hey Fuzzie, maybe we can do this at your place in jul?

If it moves, hit it until it stops.
If it doesn't move, hit it until it does.
If it's STILL doesn't move, eat it.
If your teeth hurt, it was a rock.

Absolutely! I was thinking about giving everyone the opportunity to try out all of these matches at the shoot.

I'll have to practice some dry firing tonight with quick bolt manipulation... I'm determined to do this with my bolt gun, which will require tossing loose rounds in the chamber because it can only hold 6+1. Oh yeah, and i want to do it with only a sling. :)

I haven't been able to look at the pic on a PC yet, how big are the circles?

Hmm... maybe I can get to the range this weekend.

Sling and bolt-action... ambitious considering the time limit. Oh and those circles - they're exactly 1" - yup an moa shot, or more precisely, 10 of them. :D

Can there be a break in recording between the setup and shots fired? And maybe again betwen the shots fired and the target retrieval. I was just thinking that the video would be 10 minutes or so long without the breaks. With breaks, however, there could be some question as to one's honesty.

Just wondering.

Yes, we're on the honor system here, so breaks are fine. Of course if you want to continuously video, you could always run back from the target to save time. Maybe that could even get you some extra "huffing & puffing" points.

Nah, it wouldn't.

We always have a shoot out at my brothers on the 4th. I'll have to see if he'll be up to letting us do this.
Dunno if anybody has a video camera, but surely we can figure out something.
Main thing will be finding out if he has a 100 yd setup. We usually shoot skeet out there.

I must be blind because I can't see the due date for this competition. I sold my 700 Police and am putting together a new rifle now (based on a 20" SST 5R barrel with threaded end). It might be awhile before I get it sighted in. When is the deadline?

Matches are now forever ongoing, won't be a deadline unless explicitly stated. :)
This will allow for people to improve their scores, and we also have a match ranking system about ready to be released.
