FNP 45 Competition
Any opinions on the Competition variant? It appears it comes with 3 - 15 rounders, a case that is nearly identical to the Tactical, as well as removable mounting plates for optics. The fiber-optic combat sights seem nice as well. At around a couple hundred dollars less than a Tactical, what do you guys think?
Re: FNP 45 Competition
seems perfect for those not using a suppressor.

Re: FNP 45 Competition
if it were me, i would just go with a tactical and have the night sites and the sweet case.
Re: FNP 45 Competition
Looks like you're losing the the threaded barrel (losing the additional length of the barrel and the ability to suppress out of the box), and you're losing the trijicon night sights by going to the competition model. I just checked gun broker and the FNP45T was going for right around 1100.00 and the FNP45C was going for right around 950.00. I personally would just save the extra money and go for the tactical. You get better sights and the possibility to suppress if you want. If you think about it, if you bought a FNP45C and wanted to put the Trijicon night sights on it you're looking at what $100 to $150 just for the sights, then you either have to put them on yourself or take them to a gunsmith and pay them to do it.
Re: FNP 45 Competition
Having a FNP-45 Tactical, Trijicon RMR and a Gemteck Blackslide I have a very staunch opinion on the subject.
Re: FNP 45 Competition
That's what I have, minus the Blackside, I've decided on the AAC Tirant.

Re: FNP 45 Competition
I'm thinking of trading in my HK USP Tactical on another FNP45. The HK used to be my favorite .45 gun.... its not anymore. The FN outshoots it in all categories.
I already have an FDE tacitcal, the next one will be in black, but I'm confused about the FNP45C model. Is it absolutely dentical to the T-model without the barrel and night sights? Seems like it... For the extra 100 bucks or so you can have the T-model with about 300-400 more in parts.

Re: FNP 45 Competition
Yeah but is it "Identical", i.e. there's no special internal parts to the FNP45C that the FNP45T doesn't have. Does it have a match trigger or something?
I dont see the point in calling something a competition model with just a $2 piece of FO filament as the front site, but maybe thats what they did.
My HK USP45T will be going up for sale when i get home... as always, forum member get first dibs. Condition is excellent, includes factory soft case, extra mag, and original HK Laser-devices laser sight. Can't sell till after I get home though

Re: FNP 45 Competition
Forgot to add, with the FNP45T, you end up with an Eagle Industries case as well. And I don't believe there is any difference internally. Basically getting the C over the regular one, you end up with 3 15 round mags, and as you said the fiber optic front sight. I don't see it justifying the cost of the "C".
Re: FNP 45 Competition
I thought they all come with 3 mags?

i got in fairly early on the USG. waited on it instead of buying the older model without the safety. my USG came with the shooters pack and that's a huge plus for me. the competition model really shouldn't be that more in my opinion and I was disappointed to see the tacticals going for over $1k.. still think I would go tactical if I had the coin. the fnp45 is too big to be a on the practical sideold most things so might as well do it up. if not the tac then I'd be fine with a USG since I'm sure there's gotta be some out there price within reason. maybe one or two still around with the shooters pack. could sell off the shooters pack if you don't want it even.
fnp45 is a great gun though!
pretty sure he meant (3) 15 round mags. the USG came with (2) 14 and (1) 15 round mag.they all do come with 3 magazines but some shipped with different capacity mags.srt-4_jon wrote:I thought they all come with 3 mags?

I looked and saw what I wrote. I wrote 3 15 round mags, it should have been (3 total) 15 round mags.

Re: FNP 45 Competition
I think the C model is not identical to the Tactical internally. From what I read, all from third parties, the trigger has been sharpened, and I believe the spring is different.

Re: FNP 45 Competition
I got a question...
The FNP-45C doesn't have the suppressor sights on it, so how does an optic Co-witness with it? I'd say THEY DON't, therefore the abiliy to put a reflex sight on it is severely degraded.
Can I just get an FNP-45T without a threaded barrel instead?

Re: FNP 45 Competition
Pretty sure they dont sell it that way. I am sure that you could buy the FNP 45T and trade the barrel with someone who wants a threaded barrel.

Re: FNP 45 Competition
And you'd be wrong. People in competitions aren't worried about cowitnessing irons because reflex sights are faster and irons would just get in the way of their sight picture. How many raceguns with reflex optics on top do you see set up to cowitness irons? Simple, none.SeaHawkDriver-B wrote:therefore the ability to put a reflex sight on it is severely degraded.

All true operators worry about this.
I just point-shoot after eating coOkiEZ.
What?! Who cares about those "competition guys"? I'm going to marginalize them like their shooting skillsets cannot be applied to real life because I think all of them use $5000 guns even though it's not true. This way I feel better about me. It doesn't matter that a lot of the new shooting techniques the military use come directly from competition-use.

Re: FNP 45 Competition
The point was that the sights wouldn't cowitness, not that you and your made up stereotype about what all people in competitions with raceguns think. I'll remain "wrong" and perfectly happy with m position.
Just me, but having two sets of sights on a gun in the same sight picture, one with one point of impact, the other with a different, would bother me. Regardless, it doesn't bother anyone else I guess, which is fine, I'll be going a different direction.
