Protector vs. Varmintor?

I apologize of this has been brought up before,

But does anyone have opinions on which cartridge is better for self-defense/home-defense? Near as I can tell, EA is using deforming bullets in both, from two different companies, and both travel about the same speed, 2080fps vs 2100fps in a FsN.

Which is better for SD? Are both about equal?

The ProtecTOR out performs the Varmintor in our testing.

The ProtecTOR is going to have a little bit more energy. As far as terminal performance goes, I suggest you take a look at the gel tests in the EA forum.

36gr Varminator @ 2100fps = 353ft/lbs
40gr Protector @ 2080 = 384ft/lbs

You actually should have said the varmintor was better, since I already have a bunch of protectors, and then I would have bought a ton of varmintors!

I am interested in these two rounds, myself - particularly when used with a PS90.
