22 Reed Express

Post by Grantness » 23 May 2009, 10:58

I stumbled upon this little gem, and thought I should share. The 22 Reed Express is a wildcat based on the 7.62x25 case. Reed's ammunition (http://www.reedsammo.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) offers CZ52 drop-in barrels for this caliber, and the rounds fit in a regular CZ52 mag. Since 7.62x25 brass is incredibally common, this would make for a nice cartridge to reload.

Now get this. Some of the loads ive found are pretty damn nice.
30gr berger: 2782fps 12.7gr H110
35gr Vmax: 2721fps 12.6gr H110
40gr Vmax: 2550fps 11.6gr H110
50gr: 2401 10gr Acc#9

This beast has some superior ballistics. No telling what you could if you tried some other powders. Unfortunately Reed's is out of stock on those barrels, but they say they are taking preorder for the next batch. Man, I'd love to have one of these

I've been following the progress of the 22 Reed Express since 2005. It certainly does look interesting, on paper.

Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative,
and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want
people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.

Well a CZ52 in mint condition is still really cheap. Could make for a fun blasting gun. Wonder what else could be chambered in it.
