Anyone have good or bad things to say about these? I understand I'd get a lot more info at say, the HK forum, but I want opinions other than fanboys. One of the guys at my local shop mentioned a different shop that had a barely used safe queen USP .40 Compact for $450. From what I understand that's darn cheap for an HK. This was nowhere near the top of my "next gun" list but at the price I might reconsider.
Anyway, long story short, any thoughts and comments are appreciated. Thanks!

Re: HK USP .40 Compact
I have the full size version & I think it's a pretty good gun. The only problem is that it is pretty light so you get more recoil. I can only guess that the compact version would be a little lighter & therefore a little more kick.
Any chance you could rent the gun & try it somewhere before buying?

Re: HK USP .40 Compact
I like the newer HK handguns (P30/HK45/etc.)
The old ones work fine.
$450 for any safe queen is a good deal.

Re: HK USP .40 Compact
I'll see if I can rent it or something similar. Going to check it out tomorrow. I liked the feel of the full size and I would like something a little smaller than the FsN in regards to frame size.
Cheapest on GunBroker was over $600.
Crap
Edit: From what I've seen online, it seems like I only want it if it's the "Variant 1". Single-action/Double-action with decocker AND safety, on the left. But I might be able to flip it on GB and buy something else.

Re: HK USP .40 Compact
When I was very first introduced to the FsN, I was actually going to pick up an HK40 fullsize. I just happened to run into a bureau buddy who turned me away from it and directed me to the FsN. Another buddy from the SO had the HK and I really liked the way it handled on the range. It felt really good..like an extension of my arm. I just knew it was the firearm for me. Until I fired the FsN.
They're solid, well built weapons and with minimal upkeep should give you years of service.
I can't speak of the compacts as I have no experience with them.
But the guy who let me use his puts hundreds of rounds through his every week (he works part time at a firing range and gets free practice rounds). It was because of his recommendation that I was going to shell out the $$ and make the transition.

I carry a H&K USP .45c and LOVE IT! Nowhere neara fanboy as I am an equal opportunity offender. For $450.00 if you don't by it you need a swift kick in the a$$.

Oh yeah. Price is definitely right.
If memory serves, seems like the .40 I was looking at was dang near twice that for a new one. Right around 8ish??

If it were a .45 there would be zero hesitation but I don't really want a .40
