Kimber eclipse custom II

Post by fzr confused » 18 Feb 2011, 13:17

Is the eclipse custom II considered a "custom shop" kimber? I hear all the time that if you get a kimber it has to be a custom shop kimber, but it is not on their site listed under their custom shop. I'm looking to spend upto about 1200 on a 1911, I want "the best" (I know very subjective and opinionated) 1911 for that price range. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking mostly at kimber, but I have no probes going to a diff maker, just want to stay at under 1200.

Here is the deal,

When the Eclipse first came out it was custom shop only. It's official name was " Pro Eclipse II" It was so popular it went from custom shop to regular catalog item and the name changed to " Eclipse Pro"

Call the Kimber custom shop they will make one for you.

Thanks Jay! My local shop said 1125 for one, that a good price? Also would there be a better option for the price?

I just got this quote for you. Don't know if you want a 4" .45, but I have bought two Kimbers from them, and another gun purchase. They are slow, but I hear all Kimber purchases are slow unless they happen to have what you want in stock.

Thank you for visiting http://www.SportingArms.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Here is your factory new price:

Item No: K3200035
Manufacturer: Kimber
Type: Pistol
Description: KIMBER 4" ECLIPSE PRO II NS .45
On Sale: No
Price: $982.00

Custom shop will not make one off guns anymore. I called them about it. The only Custom shop guns they will make is the listed custom shop gun. Straight from the horses mouth. :(

No, it is not a custom shop Kimber any longer. There is no way to get a Custom Shop Eclipse directly from Kimber anymore. As I said above, they don't make one off guns any longer due to the fact they are 6 months behind demand as it is in production of their normal line.

Sucks, but true.

Its still better than any springfield out of the box. I would compare it to Sig's GSR, or 1911s as they are called not. $1125 is at least $75 high though.

You are going to spend 1200 for a Custom shop gun.

It's still worth it and it sucks they aren't doing one offs anymore. I hope that changes.

If I didn't have three Kimbers, 2 of them custom shops in my safe now, I would be tempted. That is a steal!

Very nice gun. No custom shop, but I have shot a few of Sigs 1911s and I have come to the judgement that they are better shooters than the stock Kimbers. I don't like the liberties Sig took with the cosmetics of their 1911s, too squared off on the slide IMO.

Great shooters though.

yeah, i wasnt that fond of the squareness myself either, just looking for a few ideas as to what to look for at the show next month. i think i would go nuts if i paid for a kimber custom shop and had to wait months to get it lol. i want what i want NOW! so at the show i will see if they have any, which they normally have a few and then go from there.
