Somali Pirate seize US vessel

Post by TEKTITE » 08 Apr 2009, 05:12

Look at this crap: http://www.military.com/news/article/so ... ESRC=eb.nl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

These pirates seize a ship, USING SMALL BOATS, 280 MILES off the coast. That's a LOOOOONG way in the small, open boats the are shown favoring.

I realize the difficulties with radar on such small targets, but I thought we had some Frigates in the area. Why wasn't this ship "shadowed"? This is just the latest seizure in a very busy pirate week.

Thomas Jefferson didn't put up with that crap.

We'll probably pay the ransom. :furious:

They launch from mother craft.

What we NEED to do is get to the root of whatever socio-economic factors come into play in turning these people IN to pirates.

Just kidding. Sink em all.

The AOL report said the nearest US Ship is 345 miles away. The seized ship was "not in our patroled area". The pirates will keep it up, no one is stopping them.

I'm with wally on this. Its an act of terrorism against us. Sink them, and hold kenya responsible if they do not intervene.

Just as I feel about the California gang problem, give me a couple aircraft, ammunition and immunity - and I can make this all go away.

Not enough.

What do you call 500 pirates on the bottom of the sea?

A good start. :laugh:

The article said the crew has one pirate in captivity, and the rest were in the ocean. We can hope that means floating faces down. :patriot:

My old AR10 with an undermounted M203 + 5 cases of black-tips= safe ship. I'm sure there's some retarded maritime laws keeping contractors off these ships. The size of these ships makes picking off these little boats pretty easy, IF you have the weaponry. 2-4 man teams could do it easily. And anything goes in international waters... Oh, wait; maybe we should build them schools and hospitals as our warfighting tactic.

When I first heard this story I was hoping we had some of our guys concealing themselves in the containers as a trap. I would have given almost anything to see the looks on those scum bags faces when out pops some of our guys. :guns:

Fox reports until now they were afraid of US flagged ships. Now with Obama they know we won't use our might. One missile would take out the mothership. Then those in a smallcraft with the hostage could be given a choice from an overhead asset whether or not they want to live.
