Patent application?

Post by JoJo » 16 Aug 2014, 07:32

A while back I spoke about an UGLY 5.7 holster I made. At that time I was ashamed to show any photos. My design has changed many times and some of my friends suggested that I put in on the market now. I have gone through the "patent" process before so I know it can be very expensive and still offers no guarantees.

Do you think it would be worth the time or should I just put my design on the market and sell as many as I can until I get ripped off?

They changed the patent system about a year ago.

Now it is much easier to get a provisional patent and much cheaper.

If it's a unique holster, you may be required to patent several parts of it, and that could cost upwards of $10,000. If it were me, I'd try to sell as many before I got ripped off, because the Chinese will do it anyway.

Unless of course you have some sort of revolutionary idea that will change the world, but it's very unlikely.

"Change the world" .......no way. "Help" owners of accessorized sidearms with small bores......yup. Found a glitch during a demo last night which would affect longevity. This is my personal Bottomless Pit.

Would your holster allow me to carry easier while hunting? And not get in the way of a assault pack?

My design is very much like a conventional holster except it is MUCH more universal.

Yahoo! I sold my holster design to an established company. I did not get rich but I can pay off some bills. I can not reveal details until they actually produce and market my design. I will point you to it when It makes market.

Not for now. I got the itch to photograph wildlife and market prints from a website. It probably will not make much money but I hope it will support travel expenses. My recent sale enabled me to buy a V6 Tacoma which can pull a camper and that is a start. :D :D :D
