The one she is most comfortable with; take her out and let her try everything. That's what I do for newbies. I call my friends and they bring all their handguns, and they get to try out every handgun.

Of course, I only do this for people that I deem really cool :p

Sometimes, I get worried calling DW, cuz he brings his 10mm and scares everyone with the EA loads.

My wife packs a Glock26. Her friend I trained and she ended up going with a Ruger LC9. Another of her friends I trained ended up liking a S&W wheelgun in 357. You really have to have them try lots of different handguns to find one they are comfortable with.

Agreed on the "let her try them all for the one that feels comfortable" technique. It can backfire. My wife started with a Sig 232, stainless .380. She loved the look and feel, and was able to rack the slide and hit what she was aiming at. All was fine until we went out one day and shot at a wooden desktop, and it wouldn't go through. She wanted more power. She bought herself an older policemans S&W model 19 .357 magnum. She loves that gun. But it is too big to carry. She bought a Ruger LCR to get the same power in a smaller package. She was happy till the first shot at the range. She bought herself a Fiveseven.

If I sound at all like I am complaining, then I am using WAY the wrong font. My wife bought herself FOUR handguns. Do you understand what that allows me to do? I can even tell her about most of my purchases.

A Judge or Mossberg 500 chambered in .410? Easy to handle, manipulate, reliable and leaves room for accuracy issues under duress...
