Any one try loading 5.7x28 with Alliant 410?
Alliant410 is a single base medium burn speed powder.
I got a keg of Alliant 410 from someone who was attempting to get stated reloading 9x19 during the height of the ammo and powder shortage in 2020. I traded them 2.5lb of military surplus powder called CBI which is single base propellant that burns like HP38/w231 for 4lb of the AL410. So that's how I ended up with it. Figured I could load 44mag, 30carbine with it, maybe 5.7x28.
I loaded a few 9mm rounds with AL410, using a magnum rifle primer and compressed it under a 124gr bullet just to see how bad it was. Put the rounds in my sten gun and let it rip. I got about 700fps and a bunch of unburned powder. That tells me it's slower than AA9 but probably faster than 2400. When I compress load AA9 in a 9x19 under a 124gr bullet I get very impressive velocity, but I do get some unburned powder.
I have a P50 and silencer and would like to run single base powder as its so clean.
Anyone ever try Alliant 410 smokeless in 5.7?
