Hi guys,
I know the illegal-for-civ-purchase rounds were55gr SMK, now I guess they are 62 gr somethings?
I got a bunch of low budget 55gr TMJ’s and wonder if they are so different from SMK’s that they are not suitable for the same purpose?
Lots of info out there for people loading and shooting 55gr bullets, but nothing about whether the terminal ballistics are suitable for defensive purposes. Not that I’m willing to get shot by such a round regardless of suitability, but the effort is more meaningful if the terminal capability is there.
Thanks guys!
Is a good defensive load possible using a random 55 gr TMJ?

The 55gr Sierra Game Kings had magical properties, and I've yet to find another off the shelf 55gr FMJ to have a thick jacket like it. SB193 is now 62gr and no one has identified the bullet.
They will tumble in tissue. The lack of velocity isn't going to help with wounding
