5.7x28mm brass care

Post by Fotis » 21 Nov 2019, 15:56

I bought a Hornady ultrasonic cleaning machine just for this caliber. Should I be using the gun cleaning solution or the case cleaning solution for the five seven. Specifically I'm talking about the lacquer finish on it I don't want to ruin it. Also for the people who have this machine is the liquid a one-time-use? do you throw it away right after it was used or can you use it again up until the point where it gets dirty or too dirty?

So do not put either solution in the ultrasonic?

I put that mixture in my ultrasonic cleaner & had no problems but my usual method is to use that mixture (using hot water) in a coffee can, shake & rattle & roll for a few minutes, drain & rinse, air dry. I usually reuse the mix a few times but I'll toss it if it gets too dirty or has sediment.

"Too dirty" is just a judgement call

Contrary to popular belief, you CAN fix stupid - it's just illegal.

Water/Simplegreen will work just fine in the ultrasonic just knock the time down to 10 minutes or you will start to damage the coating. Make sure to inspect them every minute or so since the cases won't shine up but depending on the power of your machine they might damage the coating.
