Why are 5.7 brass cases coated?

Like the title says, why are 5.7 cases coated?

For the function of the round. The 5.7 rounds does not operate like a comon rounds like 45,9mm etc. The brass needs a coating to properly cycle at the pressures the 5.7 operates at, extract etc.

The Banshee was designed around caoted brass.

What the hell is the point of removing the coating?

Because you want pretty brass instead of brass that functions?

the coating helps the round "stick" in the chamber slightly longer to allow the blowback action to do it's job safely :D
