What is the SS198

Post by no one » 23 Oct 2008, 08:56

I have heard about the SS198 but am unable to find out exactly what the bullet construction and velocity are. Can someone enlighten me about this rounds bullet, velocity, and what all the buzz about it is?

Restricted to LEO purchase only by FNH. It is the SS195 with a little more velocity.

SS195LF = 28grain HP, ~2000fps (out of the pistol)
SS198 = 28grain HP, ~2150-2200fps (out of the pistol)

EliteAmmunition's S4 SuperRapTOR beats them both.

Thanks for the reply. As I was waiting I used the search engine "Dogpile" and found a distributor who has it in stock now...(1000am) but they want $100.00 per box. I imagine that the distributor paid about $25-$35 per box for it. I'm new to this web site so I don't want to post the name of the distributor for fear that I might be banned for advertising in the wrong place...but it is easy to find them if you look.

They probably paid less than that, even. (Wholesale and probably w/o excise tax payment.)

As f3rr37 mentioned, EA's S4 SuperRapTOR outperforms the SS198. It also costs less than the gougers' prices for SS198 and has no "back of the truck" issues.

Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative,

people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.

SS198 is over-hyped because it is supposed to be sold to LEO only.

You can read a little more about it in the forum wiki under 'Factory Ammunition' http://57forum.com/wiki" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Speaking of which, does anyone have any pictures of the SS198 for the SS198 wiki gallery?

damn....I hate you :furious:

Actually I think *Im jealous* would be more appropriate...but it doesnt convey that certain covetousness(real word?) tinged with bitterness that I was looking for. :laugh:

oh...and where'd u get those 100 round boxes (and what size are they?). I usually get those green 50 round .357 boxes from walmart, but ive never seen any 100 rounders like that.

I'm 90% certain they're also the .357 boxes, just in the 100 round flavor. Got them at a local store. They're pretty cheap, if you really want some I'd pick them up if you cover cost and S/H, but you could probably find them cheap online as well.

I wouldn't order them online unless you are getting other stuff, you should be able to get them locally for about $2.
