FN FNC

Post by 6x6pinz » 26 Jun 2010, 03:57

I have an FN FNC select fire that has started giving me troubles. The rifle fires fine in semi as long as I shoot rather slow. In three round burst it hangs up on occasion. In full auto it fails between 2 and 4 rounds in. All failures are ejection related. I have tried several mags and ammo types with no noticeable difference. I found the roll retaining the recoil spring was broke/bent causing a slight hang up and have replaced that. I am going to remove the extractor to verify that there is no debris interfering with its operation. The ejector is in very good condition. I took some time and polished the rails and bolt to eliminate a little drag there.

Any suggestions on possible areas of concern would be great as the internals all look to be in very good shape.

My go-to forum for NFA questions is subguns.com . Many smart C3 people over there.

I was finally able to contact the one who did the conversion. Since I did not get a manual with the rifle I missed the gas setting lever. Felt a little ignorant when he told me to change the gas adjustment. Now all is good again and it runs perfectly. Thank goodness for simple fixes.

Strange,as my FNC will function on either setting. With the handle to the left most of the gas port is blocked but enough gets through to the piston for function but this is the "normal" setting. With the handle to the right it will cover the port and redirect all the gas onto the piston face.Similar to a "dirty" operating mode.Who should have function in either mode.I will try to post a PDF of the FNC manual for you 6X6pinz.If I it does not work send me a PM and I will get you a copy.

If you would post the manual that would be great. The rifle works absolutely perfect now. Although I have only put 600 rounds through it since adjusting I have had no failures.
