O the dread. I started to get all my stuff together for the form 1's today ie.. photos forms filled out and called the sherriffs office here to make an appointment for the leo sig's.( I'm doing the SBR PS-90 and also SBR'ing an AR at the same time so I only needed 1 set of prints and 1 5330.30) I got the prints done yesterday at BCI and when I called the Sherriffs Dept. they directed me to thier firearms division phone #. When I talked to the gentelman there he said I also needed to have a copy of my background check before they would sign it off. Well BCI is now on the new 4 10's and closed on fridays. Dangit I was there yesterday for my prints and could have done it then! Besides they are the county sherriffs cant they do a background check? This is a real PITA since I'm used to just going up to the Roy City PD and having an informal chat with the chief while he signed me off. Chief Hammond always greeted me with a "what are you buying now" smile. O the agony of living in the big city.
Rant off.

Re: leo sign off
Yeah it shouldn't be that way. When I got my first one in Montgomery County, TN it was like you described, the Sheriff with a big smile asking about what I was getting while he was signing it in front of me.
Too bad it's not the same everywhere.

Never confuse 'The will of the Majority' with 'The will of God'.

One of the reasons why I went the trust route was to avoid any such hassles.
