GEMTECH Can for 5.7 or 5.6

Post by bud1959 » 20 Aug 2011, 04:37

I have several AAC and AWC cans. I have read so much here about Gemtech here on the forum, that I have decided to get one. I am wanting a can for both of my platforms, that I can switch out easily. Which means for me a quick mount. I know you guys have a lot of experience with different cans. My question is, what is the best for my needs, quick detach, db level, and quality. Not worried about price, just function. Thanks for your help. BC

Dont forget SWR. The Spectre is the suppressor that everyone tests their designs against. The new Surefire 22S is rated for 5.7x28 as well IIRC. Also, the Liberty Kodiak is rated for 5.7x28 which can be used on the pistol or carbine.

I dont think the Gemtech SFN57, which is designed specifically for the 5.7x28, is rated for a 5.56x45. I wouldn't try it, the SFN57 isn't very effective anyways, knocks the decibles down to about that of an unsurppressed .22 short.

Contrary to popular belief, you CAN fix stupid - it's just illegal.

Guess I should clear up gun choice. I will use it mostly on SBR PS90 and 16" AR57' but would also use on SBR Sig 556' and 16" AR15. thanks for the info and suggestions.

Just a heads up, if that's a pistol and not a SBR then that frontgrip might be illegal. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

It's SBR and I hold a class three lic. If you look at last post, I list it as SBR.

I second silencer talk, it's a great site. I love my spectre. The don't seem to have much FN stuff on there, it's mostly older posts.

Correct, no 556 through the 5.7 can....the G5-T would fit your use perfectly though.

I have the Gemtech FSN57 'Can', it seems well made and works, but its pretty loud when fired dry, not as quiet as I'd like; I dont know what the actual metrics as far as dB go on it, but I don't consider it hearing safe dry.... and its also a sealed can, which means no user-end cleaning. NOt the 5.7x28 is a dirty round, but outside of a small wire brush and a few cans of gun scrubber you're not going to be able to get the gunk out of it.

I'll be going with AAC for my next 'Can' purchases.

What in the world is a 5.6? Must be a new cartridge.

:lmao:
