EOTech XPS3-0 for PS90

Post by tjparry » 25 Jul 2009, 06:45

I've been thinking about putting one of the new XPS3's on my PS90. I haven't seen one of these in person (or the XPS2 for that matter). I'm a little concerned about the size of the sight. I made a little model out of cardboard based on the EOTech size specs and it looks pretty bulky sitting on top of the gun. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks.

Unless you're using a dual-mag setup I'd be more worried about optic height & cheekweld. Tried an Eotech 512 on the wife's PS90 and it sat too high for practical use (YMMV). Now we have an Aimpoint Micro on it and it's perfect (the petite wife also enjoys the reduced weight).

A lot of us have EO's. Mine's a 552 and it sits high, but don't really use a cheek weld. Instead the PS90 gets parked into my shoulder, I keep my head up and look through the sight window. PS90 is more straight out from my body, rather than across my chest in a traditional offhand rifle hold. Keep your head straight to the front and swing your torso with the weapon locked to the front and the red dot out in front and you'll shoot where and what you see.

At night, although I can see the dot with my NV through the EO window, most times, I just press the laser button, put the light saber on the target and squeeze.

XPS 3-0 should not be a problem. It's a training issue.

I would have to completely agree with TOMAC.

Also, if our eotech is 6 inches above your barrel, then precision shooting at close ranges become more difficult.
A 50 yard zero would make you hit very high at 100 yards and very low at 25..

It is best to have an optic/sight as close to the barrel, at least I do.
