AR 5.7 Firing pin issues. Please help!

Post by Chadcaw88 » 15 Dec 2016, 18:17

Hello, I have an AR 5.7x28 upper that I'm having firing pin problems. I shoot 200-300 rounds no problem, but now every 2-3 shots the firing pin comes out from and catches on the buffer pin. I wonder if a c clamp or something is missing because it is kind of an odd design to not have anything holding the firing pin in place.

It shouldn't come out at all. I have to disassemble the carrier to get mine out. Check to be sure it isn't broken. Here is a breakdown of the front half of the bolt:

The back half threads onto the front. The firing pin goes inside and is held between them. The spring acts as a dampener so it doesn't slam into the front of the bolt every time, also helps it reset. There's no way it should come out.

I took a part my bolt. and there is nothing there to hold the pin. Is there like a washer or something missing? If so do you know where I could get one.
Thanks for all the input.

There is no washer. It's just the pin + spring. If you are missing the spring, that needs to be replaced. Mine won't come out without taking the bolt apart.
