Hello

Post by dmachine » 14 May 2015, 05:44

Hello all, I'm new and thought I would just say hi. I to am a nut for the PS90 (except the sight) In fact I ended up designing my own so I could use a T-1 on it. Now I love the thing, made a big difference. If anyone wants to know how I did it let me know. I also made one for the RMR that works the same, but I like the T-1 best for the shooting I do. the RMR shines for CQB though. Does anyone know where the best place to buy ammo is? Thank you all!

dmachine, welcome. You won't have to look far here to find a lot of other PS90 nuts. Everyone has their own idea about the best setup, which is the way it is supposed to be. You will find lots to read on old threads, but a couple of things seem to come back to basics. Use the FN mags and you won't regret it. No matter how you try and tune up the cheap mags, they just don't seem to work. The AE ammo does not seem to have quite the reliable feeding in the PS90 as FN ammo. Jay at Elite has mentioned that the newest batches may be better, but I haven't heard too much feedback.

Currently, the ammo craziness appears to have subsided, but that doesn't mean it is as easy to find as 9mm. Gun shows, ammosupplywarehouse.com, Cabela's, etc. usually have it around. In my area, AE ranges from $20 - $25 a box, SS197 ranges from $24 - $28 a box, and SS198 occaisionally shows up at the LGS for $31.99 a box.

Have fun shooting.

Welcome, sir!

That's awesome that you designed your own mount! You should post pictures! :)

We have a lot of entrepreneurs like yourself, on this website.

Check out eliteammunition.com for SD ammo, mounts, upgrades to PS90/P90 like rate reducers, electronic sights, etc.

Thanks guy's! Gunbot is a pretty good place to find ammo, and PSA seems to be one of the best there. (esp. for 5.56mm) And yes, your absolutely right about AE ammo. I usually have to cock the rifle about 5 times a mag! As for the sight mount's, I would be glad to help anyone here with what I think is the best way to go. I made them for the T-1 & RMR reddot sight's. I got the LOS about the same as the stock unit, which I hated. It seems to make the rifle 100% better. Anyone interested email me and I'll send you pic's of them. Your welcome to post them here so everyone can take a look, I just don't know how. Thanks again! [email protected]

Hello, I too am brand new, just joined tonight.
I also have a PS 90; mine only came with three iron sights ( the two left and right built-in iron sights and the peep hole sight on the top picatinny rail).

I would love to see your custom mount you made for your T1. Please post a pic if you can.

And if you want one of those wonderful orig. white ring sight's I have one of those too. However, if you tried both, I would bet my life you would take the FN sight off with a ball peen hammer to switch it.

By the way, what is one of those sights worth? It's the original white ring, works fine, (or I should say works as new) I'v been thinking about selling it if someone needs one, or maybe trading it for some ammo. I'm not greedy and I don't need top dollar.

I have the original white ring sight. I would consider only fair, until the REM T3 is added, then it becomes awesome. I have seen them for sale at $400. That shocks me. They may be decent, but I know I could do better for $400.

Palmetto State Armory currently has FNH SS197SR for $19.99. Don't think you'll find it any cheaper.

dmachine,

Are you able to post pictures of your mount?

I'm also new, recently joined myself. I found a local guy selling one of his PS90s and couldn't pass it up.
I have a couple mini ACOGs I'm going to be playing with, using a TROS low mount.
Once I get my mount, I'll post some pictures.

:cool: Check out this thread http://www.fivesevenforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=16037" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
EA is selling Ring Sights with internal illuminators. Very nice. They are also selling Green dot fiber optics with my REM T3GD attached at very good prices.
If you can wait and have some money to burn check out the mini ACOG with my illuminator attached.

I hope to have the REMs ready in the next week or 2 so I can send them to Jay at EA so he can release them for sale. SUPER COOL SETUP!!!

I don't have a way to post these pic's, if anyone does I'll send them to them be email and they can post them for all to see. I think you'll really like them. One takes the RMR, (best for CQB) and the other takes the
T-1 which is best all around. Please let me know and I'll send some right out, I'd really like to get some feedback.

This appears to be well thought out. The trick is how does it hold up.

Hi all,
Just a little info to go along with the mounts.
The T-1 is the best over all unit because it's a 2 moa and the RMR unit is best for CQB. (You don't even see the sight with both eye's open.) I heard they might be coming out with a 2 moa one sometime this summer??? These are both 6061-T6 aluminum and are very rugged. also, the sides on mine are cut on a 1 deg. slant so aprox. 1/2 of the mount is touching the inside wall of the receiver where as others you see are just straight and very little is touching when you tighten the 8x32 screws. This is important so the sight doesn't change on you. Also, the cheek weld is as low as it goes, about the same as the original sight. This keeps you tucked in tight and in control so you can operate the rifle while working with the other hand, opening door's, etc, etc,. I find some of the other mounts out there way to high to operate with, you loose your cheek weld because of the height, then you can't stay tucked in tight. This makes it hard for both a quick shot and a quick follow up shot. If you would like to email me you may do so at: [email protected] I will give you my phone nuimber if you have a lot of questions. The finish will be flat black Duracoat, and if your looking for a custom mount give me a call and we'll work out something. Thank you all for looking.
