Do you have a rest you can put the gun in & just dial it in?
With the FsN being so light, it's quite easy to pull a shot and not even know it.

What range are you trying to sight it in at?
Re: Iron Sites - Problem: Zero in my FN57
I finally moved to 20 feet - using the sites only. Would have been more accurate without the sites.Zhurdan wrote:What range are you trying to sight it in at?

Keep in mind that this pistol isn't really a 21 foot pistol by nature. I zero at 50 meters and learn my hold over/under for closer stuff. It takes more shooting and learning the pistol, but it works out muuuuch better in my opinion.mark4191 wrote:I finally moved to 20 feet - using the sites only. I started at 30 yards and moved forward with no success. It simply will not zero in. Maybe the sights need to be moved by a gunsmith? My other weapons with factory iron sites have been easy to get to zero - just didn't know if there was a trick to this one.Zhurdan wrote:Keep in mind that this pistol isn't really a 21 foot pistol by nature. The ADJUSTABLE sights model comes sighted in from the factory for SS192/SS195. If you're using SS197, your POI will be significantly lower.
The velocities of this cartridge have a wide range and can have huge differences in POI than what most people are used to.
I believe the difference between SS197 & S4 Ultra are ~9" at 25'

+1. I've not had to adjust my sights. Sounds like a defective gun. Since it's mostly plastic, let me recycle it for you. Just to be sure, though, buy 1k rounds and I'll make sure it's the gun and not you before I recycle it.

When is the last time you had your eyes checked? The reason I ask is that you can focus on the laser down range and are dead on. But when you are using the iron sights you should only be able to clearly see the front sight, which is at arms length, to hit a target which should be out of focus. Also if you are chasing holes, stop looking at the target between shots, commit to shooting a mag or half mag, before you look at the target for shot placement. It sounds dumb, but you will just have to trust me on this. If you can shoot a tight group with no major flyers, then deal with the sights. Just remember to move the sight in the direction you want the bullet to impact. If you are right handed and are shooting low left, then it is trigger control / too much finger in the trigger. If you are still having problems, let us know, in detail, number of shots, number of groups, shot placement. I recommend groups of 3-5 rounds, then mark your target or put a new target up. Record your data as you go, if there is no improvement, then post your data.
Enjoy

How rude! You assume it's the shooter's fault. :p I at least gave him the benefit of the doubt AND offered to help the environment...
Re: Iron Sites - Problem: Zero in my FN57
Maverick makes some good points.
How is your grouping? Are your shots all over the place, or are they consistently off in one direction? Getting the trigger pull right with the FsN can take some time for people used to 1911's or Glocks....or basically anything else  It takes practice to get that correct muscle memory to stick. Use the rest if you have to, but dont even think about sighting in until you've got your grouping nice and tight....and consistent.
As others have mentioned, if you sight your gun in with one type of ammo its not going to be accurate if you switch...
Now here's a thought... If your laser is spot on, then why not just line up your sights so that they point directly at the laser, or just below the laser so you can "lolly pop" it?

As a L.E. Firearms Instructor, I have found that if I get to the point, I spend less time being: rained on, eaten by bugs, and or sun burned. I was fearing that the amount of radiation I am absorbing from my computer could cause me to glow in the dark which would make me an easy target while working night shift. :lmao:

Grant's input (as usual) is foolproof. Walk the secured gun's sights to the laser. (and Jay's probably thinking you'll attract a jdram looking for paint-hahaha)
