I second the Otis system, I ran out of patches and started using shop towels cut into squares.
The Otis is a fine system, it's worth the cash spent vs. The bore snake. My only gripe on the bore snake is that it needs to be washed and then dried. If you shoot alot like some of us, and you want to go with a bore snake, I would recommend buying two or three of them. Three would be best depending on what chems you use for cleaning. Mixing chems is not profitable for the bore.
But at that price you could buy an Otis system, and eventually run out of patches and chase your tail some more. Such is life...

I still use standard patches and chemials to clean bore or use the otis patches. I usually run my bore snakes down the gun when the bore is arguably 90% clean.

As I had said in a previous post similar to this even after you run the bore snake through a few times me im usually 10 plus times, if you take a wet patch with your favorite cleaning solvent and run it through it will still come out dirty as you didnt use the bore snake, witht hat said id have to go with Buffmans thoughts on this.

Which boresnake and copper brush to use for 5.7 pistol?

Post by dsmith » 15 Dec 2013, 04:10

Was figuring a .22 (.223) boresnake will work but wanted to see what everyone else is using.
