Lock Up Ammo

Post by Driller » 21 Jan 2013, 11:30

Thieves have discovered lately the value of ammo subsequently there has been a rash of ammunition thefts from local residences. Just two .50 BMG ammo boxes full of .50 BMG will sell for over $1000.00. I went home just now and locked up my two ammo boxes of 5.7 which is worth probably over $6,000.00 by itself not including all the other ammo I locked up with it. Thief has two hands and could be in and out in a minute.

This is good advice regardless of what area you live in, although some places it may not be as high of a priority as others :?:

I wouldn't advertise I have that much ammunition around if I were you, just saying...
Me - most of my ammo is in component form  I actually have to reload it before I can go shoot it. I didn't plan it that way & it's not a security thing - I've just been lazy

This is a good idea. For people who actually have ammo.

I shoot all of mine.

I make a horrible SHTF TEOTWAWKI candidate and an even worse "Prepper".

Good thing I am none of the above.

P.S.

What was your address, again, Driller? I need some ammo... :cya:

I'm with you Blue, I shoot what I buy and I don't believe in Zombies. Reavers, yes. Zombies no.

Even though I shoot it, I still have more-than-a-handful of rounds and I do keep them in a safe, because after all: you don't have to be paranoid to know everyone is out to get you...

Let me re-phrase: I have a supply of S4M for my FsM, AR57 & PS90.

I have EA's 10mm ammo for my EAA Witness.

I have Federal HST for my 45s.

I keep CCI for my 22s.

I will always have a certain quantity of all of the above just in case there comes a time when BGs (or Reavers) try something provocative.

All my other ammo, and as I said - there' more than a handful of it, is used to shoot. IMHO, fast/accurate shooting is a perishable skill. Use it or lose it. Plus it's fun as hell to shoot stuff.

I'm just sayin'...

Never put all yer eggs in one basket. Or one safe. Divide that stash up and hide it in plain sight.

Ah thanks. That would've made sense if it weren't for the space between them

I didn't say a word about that.

But now that you mention it, I should have a quick video review of it next week. Looking forward to shooting some EA 10mm into clay to see what it does...

It kills the clay.
Duh.

And, Jeff, you of all people should believe in zombies. You've seen them in action. They all shuffled to the polls and voted for Obama. A lot of dead people rise from their graves every four years to cast their votes for Democrats...

I saw them when I lived in NY. Currently, I live in just about the most conservative part of FL. In fact, I thought everyone here was a redneck until I saw someone driving with this bumper sticker on the way to work yesterday:
My other car is a Tardis.

I'm pretty sure a redneck would think that's one of those kids in the "special" class. I could be wrong though.

Yep, that is their BIG contribution to society. They usually just shuffle to the mailbox in their bathrobe and slippers to retrieve their "benefits." They must vote however, to continue getting their free stuff.

Wait, weren't we talking about locking up your ammo? Do I need to reel you guys in and back on topic? :p
