New FiveSeven, first shot blows up and jams in barrel!

Just got my new Five Seven pistol the other day. Could not make it to range for a few days. Finally nade it and fired first shot, then the gun jammed. Slide would not fully seat forward after ejecting the brass. Tried several times, still no go. Slide worked if no round in chamber. Ends up the FIRST darn round had the casing blow apart and leave about a 5 or 6 mm ring of brass wedged at the end of the chamber. What are the odds that would happen on the first shot!! I have a pic i will upload later. I saved it after the gunsmith removed it. Fires fine now! He said he has never seen that

Then you have a definite reason to call FN!

I didn't damage the gun. Didn't cost anything to fix. Just thought it was a weird story. Rest of those 2 boxes fired fine.

Odds on it happening on the very first shot are pretty low but smeg happens right? Glad you were able to get it out without damaging anything & that it didn't cost you anything. I carry a dental pick with me to the range now in case that happens, its easier than the pen clip trick someone else here came up with

case neck separation is not all that uncommon with the 5.7 although with factory ammo it is a bit more rare. mine happened at 154 rounds, also with factory ammo but mine was white box 195.

No kidding, next time with a headline like that try to work "Factory" ammo into it.
I am glad your ok. One more thing EA needs to make is a neck ring removal tool.

Sorry for any confusion. I always assume someone is talking about standard factory ammo and not custom (like EA) or hand/reloaded uless they specifically state it was not factory ammo. Like i said all the other rounds so farhave been fine, I just thought it was crazy odds that out of the 100 rounds i bought and planned to run through it the day i bought the gun that would happen first shot!

I have never had that happen with any ammo and I have well over 2000 rounds thru my USG. If it ever did with factory ammo, I have to say that FN would get a call from me. I have heard of it happening with reloads.
