Am I remembering wrong?

Post by s-industries » 12 Nov 2011, 09:21

So I thought that my magazines used to eject pretty forcefully, before I removed the disconnect bar. I decided to put the disconnect bar back in but cut it off so it wouldn't act as a 'safety', just give the mags a little extra push. (Thanks to Jay for sending me one!). I guess there wasn't as much difference as I thought, or I need to bend the bar a bit to impose more force.

Did any of you notice a significant difference in mag eject force after removing the disconnect safety? Or am I just remembering wrong?

It will change for some mags but the mags it changes weren't drop free in the first place. About half of the FsN mag out there are drop free.

The others need work. I performed this work to Blues competition mags to make sure they all dropped free.

Understatement of the year.

They shoot out like Tomahawk cruise missiles now.

Hmm, mine drop free, but I want missiles too. Guess I'll have to do some more work!

What work can be performed on either the magazine or within the pistol, or both, to have the magazines drop / eject easily?

Have two 5.7 pistols and a crapton of magazines - some magazines drop freely from both pistols, other magazines drop freely from only one pistol.

It's not on the accurizing list.

It a competition tweak of the magazines including pinning, HD springs, Lip protectors and a pinning of the base plate so it does not pop off during the many thousands of times the magazine hits the ground during reloads.

Maybe I should offer it as a package, send me three magazines and I install lip protectors, HD springs, pin the bases and make drop free.

"magazine optimization" sounds like a good service. out of my league tough.

probably could be a service but optimized mags could also be offered from the ea shop. maybe even offering to number or color code them would be cool. tack on some kind or ea warranty as well.

but my brain is still stuck on the 8" barrel... :)

I think adding that to EA's list of services is a great idea. I bet there are quite a few folks on here that would benefit from it. :thumb:

I might just have it as a separate package. There is a but of time involved with tweaking the magazines plus the pinning of the mag base may not be for most people.

Just sell optimized magazines. McCormic, Tripp, Wilson Combat, Elite Ammo. :D
