Re: Factory FN 5.7 powder

Virgin primed 5.7 for .25 ea? Hmm... that's tempting... As for the powder, I don't think I'd be willing to risk life and limb on someone else's say-so about something as critical as powder... good luck, hope it works out, but you wouldn't catch me doing it. IF IF IF you insist on doing it, blend it ...

Re: Price on PS90s

It wasn't an ad, it was an offer to meet a need. I guess I'll use a PM instead, sorry for the trouble.

Midway USA sale

I just got an email from Midway on 5.7x28, 50 rds for 20$ or 500 for $190. Figured I would pass it along in case anyone was looking for more factory ammo. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/953145298/federal-american-eagle-ammunition-57x28mm-fn-40-grain-full-metal-jacket" onclick="window.open(this.hre...

Re: 5.7x28 Random Reloading Discussions

Yeah, this was with my PS90 so I guess I'm doing pretty well then. Time to ramp up the press! I have about 200 cleaned and trimmed cases waiting to go :) Thinking I'll run 250 SS190s next, since I still have about 900 from my 1000 order. So many projectiles, so little time... EDIT: is there a way to...

Re: 5.7x28 Random Reloading Discussions

So, I'm reloading 40gr VMAX over longshot and I was using iFire's data, it has been performing great but I'm curious the opinion on if this looks like normal shoulder setback: http://turtleworld.us/fired_cases.png The case in the middle is a resized case as a reference. I've just read comments about...

I got my SS190 from RMR as well, I had the same result. It was cool to see the different parts of the bullet, just as Jay described.

Re: Completely unrelated

Anyone ran AR500 steel plates in a carrier? Looks like I could get front, back, and both sides, curved shooters cut, for just under $200 to my door but at roughly 18 pounds for the set that's a LOT of extra weight to the vest. I have a set of AR500 plates and I have ESAPI plates, the ESAPI are less...

Re: SS190 ballistics from PS90

I'm not debating the facts, I've seen buffman's helmet video (very cool btw) and it obviously wasn't tumbling. If Jay says it's stable, I have nothing to add, since he builds bullets and I just shoot them :D Well Guess what it does stablize. :agree: bruteandbear1, you didn't read my whole post perh...

Re: SS190 ballistics from PS90

According to the formulas on ballistic stability that I am familiar with (Greenhill and Miller), longer bullets take more spin to stabilize, thus require a shorter twist. Since the barrel is fixed at 1:9, the limits of what can be stabilized are related to the weight to length ratio. The 31gr ss190 ...

Re: These are Normal Muslims in the UK... and America

I live in OK, right around the corner from where the man beheaded a woman in his workplace... there is crazy everywhere these days unfortunately. Personally, I don't care about the religion I care about actions and accountability. I think it might be easier for everyone if we ignore or put to the si...

SS190 ballistics from PS90

I am starting a workup to load some pulled SS190 for my PS90. I ran the Miller stability numbers and it looks like this round is too long to be ballistically stable in the PS90 factory barrel. I found online the PS90 is a 1:9 twist barrel, seems to be what I've read elsewhere on this forum: Stabilit...

Re: How about a load data page or sticky ?

Wow, guess I was all jacked up. Thanks for clearing things up for me. I did read a bit on the fnforum but I'll take my licks for passing it on... also, thanks for the CIP specs, I've been unsuccessful in finding that data myself, guess I was looking in the wrong places. Glad you took the time to sha...

Re: How about a load data page or sticky ?

The 5.7x28 is a proprietary (still patented by FN last I checked) cartridge (similar to 300 Whisper), which is why there is no SAAMI spec and why Jay can't publish his data. There *IS* no safe standard of measure other than personal experience, which is why everyone I know looks at me like I'm green...

Re: Home Grown SS 190

I can tell you it will not stabilize out of the FiveSeven and keyholes. Also it is really too heavy of a round for 5.7x28 loads. I was worried about that... guess i'm in for 1000 of the 32gr :) I'm happy to split a few hundred out, if anyone wants some let me know. I'll hold off putting in an order...

Re: Home Grown SS 190

Hey guys, been lurking for several weeks since i got my PS90 but first post, this thread raised my curiosity... has anyone tried loading S109 62gr into a 5.7 with the intention of subsonic fire with a suppressor? I have a box of the 40gr vmax which I recently started reloading, but this is a differe...
