Other peoples brass or how i hate LEE

So, in my infinite wisdom i purchased two 500 round Bags of 5.7 brass off of GB... One bag once fires from an individual and one bag from a range of mixed brass of unknown origin - however many times fired....though the range does not think anyone reloads. At any rate i clean the range brass and go ...

WTF is all the True blue?!

So I was lucky enough to buy two pounds of Natchezss and too dumb to get a big jug and save on Hazmat fees... but since last month I have not seen an inkling of the powder anywhere... forget about Accurate #5 that is even harder to come by and out of principle I refuse to overpay on GB... any though...

Re: How hard is it to load the 5.7x28

I'm confused. The coating on the cases. Can it be reapplied? Does it wear off quickly? How many reloads can you get to a case? And, finally, is it easier to reload for the pistol than the carbine? Don't do it! but seriously, I am rel. new to reloading and this happens to be one of my fir...

Re: Case width issue with Lee dies

Well, the die sizes to .3120 .3125 and SOMETIMES to .3115 if that is what you mean by numbers, as far as .3125 I would say 20% .3120 50% and .3115 30%.... If you get the die to sit JUST RIGHT, that proportion may change, Hornady consistently sizes to .310-.311... I never had a case larger then .311 ...

Re: Case width issue with Lee dies

Since you cycled them through you are probably good to go but the real proof is when you shoot them and see if anything hangs up. If it hangs pull the mag and inspect if the next round is sitting there in the mag with no real pressure on it. With one thousandths of taper you might see things hang a...

Re: Case width issue with Lee dies

Sounds like you are doing well!!! If your die is holding the case diameter within a thousandth around 0.311 or 0.312 you should be fine. If it gets up to 2+ thousandths like it did on mine (http://www.fivesevenforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2646&start=120" onclick="window.open(this.href);return fal...

Re: PS90 reloading results

Yes once I reread your post I noticed you are shaving off the TOP of the shell holder, I thought it was the shelf where the bullet actually sits so that makes much more sense. I slowed down my stroke and it helped, will play around a bit more with the die also. I also ordered Hornady Dies from Natch...

Re: Case width issue with Lee dies

Just a quick update.. As per some suggestions I reset the die position about 1/2 turn past camover, and lubed the case w/ liquid lube and made a slow stroke... the case width is now .311 or so (there is a taper indeed). So slow and lubed is the way to go. Ordered a set of Hornady dies (available at ...

The LEE bullet seating die has a builtin roll crimp though its

Re: PS90 reloading results

Thank you both for your comments. The tech drawing for the round shows a uniform 7.95 mm (.313 in) case body width from the shoulder to the base with no constriction. This doesn't seem to be true, however, with any of the rounds that I've measured. As PanzerMk2 notes, it's slight but it's there. Jo...

Re: Case width issue with Lee dies

Yes indeed I did, though it was some time ago. Very hepful 3in1 gauge. Now as far as setting the shoulder back with LEE dies (and I read RCBS reviews and I will stay away even though for 223 / 308 small base are indispensable) I assume that directly relates to the depth of the die being screwed in, ...

Re: Case width issue with Lee dies

Sorry my computer rebooted on me before I could finish answering your questions. A: There is no issue with your dies. Just make sure you are pulling the lever with the same force every time. Also if it is still concerning you, Buy EA's case length gauge. You will find it very indispensable. Also a ...

Case width issue with Lee dies

Hello all, :cya: I have been reading very useful info on this forum for a bit, finally decided to register as I finally got all my dies and started experimenting with the 5.7x28. I am using Lee Limited Prod. dies on a Lee Turret press (rod removed)..... several issues arose: A. After sizing some of ...
