Re: Reloading 5.7x28 with a dillon 550

I've had very good luck with the lee perfect powder measure and rifle charging die throwing winchester autocomp within .2 grains. For general purpose plinking ammo that's an acceptable window for me.

Re: Reloading 5.7x28 with a dillon 550

Thanks for the reply Jolly -- Actually I've been loading 5.7x28 on a lee turret for about two years. About two months ago I picked up a hornady LNL for a steal and got bitten by the progressive bug. When I looked into the whole situation it became apparent to me that the dillon 550 was a better prog...

Reloading 5.7x28 with a dillon 550

I have a bit of experience loading with my old lee turret and I've been making 223 and 9mm with my new hornandy L&L. However, I think to load for my PS90 and fiveseven I'll use a dillon 550. I have ordered the shellplate from EA. I am not totally familiar with the dillon 550 system -- Do I need to o...

Don't mess with your primer pockets...

Well, jay can say I told you so.... Since I've had issues with deep primer hits and primers protruding on what have been shown to be good loads, I decided to try something. In the past I had swagged primer pockets that were especially difficult to prime. This time I made 5 rounds with unaltered prim...

40gr vmax and 38gr pfp with autocomp

Today I tried some 40gr vmax and 38gr PFP bullets over some autocomp, and it didn't work worth a poop. Federal small rifle primers were used with once fired brass that fits in EA's case gauge. 5.5 grains autocomp 40grain vmax 4 rounds 2235 2260 2252 2251 All four failed to extract -- cases remained ...

Back in business. Went to the range today and had good success with lighter loads. Loads that pushed towards max
Had pressure issues -- I think I need to reconsider the recoil springs and rate reducer combo.

Here's what I found -- photos to follow soon. I have a very picky PS90 and the photos will show this. My PS90 does have an EA rate reducer as well as the stronger EA recoil springs. All rounds fired had federal small rifle primers. I also noticed my chrono didnt like the PFP much -- I'm sure it was ...

Ps90 extractor spring broken or popped loose

It appears the extractor spring of my ps90 has broken or popped loose. I'll admit to not looking closely at this part until now, so I'm not positive what it should look like. I'm assuming the spring is broken. How do I take the extractor off and replace the spring? http://i226.photobucket.com/albums...

So I've put together 50rds using the suggested starting load of true blue out of the Lyman book -- 5.4gr IIRC (I don't have the book infront of me as I post). My local reloading shop didn't have the rcbs shell holder for 5.7x28 but they did have the rcbs swagger die set so I picked that up. Easy to set up and appears to have solved the problem. I've gone from priming to be extremely difficult to just taking a good push. Thanks for the help.

Ive had a very similar issue with the pro2 round and my ps90. I tried new recoil and mag springs with no resolution. It was explained to me that some ps90's just don't like the pressures that the heavier rounds generate. I won't go into specifics but I can say Jay made it right. just give them a call.
