Re: Ruger 57

Curious as to whether the Ruger and/or the CMMC Banshee require lacquered cases like the FN or if they will function with cases with no remaining lacquer?

Re: Masterpiece Arms MAC-10 5.7x28mm

Mine likes the Pro Mags but not the FN factory mags for some reason. The FN mags don't want to insert. I've always considered Pro Mags as junk compared to the FN mags so there is a place for them I guess.

Re: Anyone loaded the 34gr Dogtown FBHP bullets?

That's a great point about how anemic the factory rounds tend to be. I guess the exceptions would be the SS192 and the SS198 loads. I have the latter for SD and its a honker!

Re: Anyone loaded the 34gr Dogtown FBHP bullets?

Be careful crimping, especially when working with hot loads as it can send to pressures into the red very quick. In fact, I'd start without the crimp & check for signs of overpressure. Then move into the crimp if you're ok with it. Personally, I'm too paranoid about a kb to use crimps on this round...

Re: AR57 GEN 2 UPPER DOES NOT FIT

My first AR57 upper had the same problem to some degree. At first I thought it was the tensioning pin on my Sun Devil lower so I kept moving it down to no effect. The rear takedown pin would partially go in so I just "tapped" it in with my plastic no-mar hammer. Always had to use a plastic drift to ...

Anyone used a Little Dandy powder measure to get 5.2 gr, 5.6 gr and 6.0 gr of True Blue? If so, what rotors do you use? I use that load for different bullets.

Re: Case taper and coating

Just checked cases sized in my Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension dies and they mic 3.12 at the base and .310 at the shoulder. I assume that is OK? Is the issue with the coating strictly of importance in the PS90 and AR57 using the 50 round mags or is it an issue in the FNH handgun as well. I have b...

I have my AR57 upper mounted on a Sun Devil lower and I have to use a plastic hammer to drive in the rear pin and use a brass punch to drive it out! Tolerances are for crap from what I'm seeing. I have 2 other uppers that fit the Sun Devil lower perfectly.

Re: Hope I didn't break my FNH 5-7 already...

Reloaded 2-3 times, not sure which for that particular case. Load was 6.2 gr of True Blue which ran 2370 fps in the AR57, vs factory SS197 which clocked at a little over 2150 fps. 6.0 gr gave me around 2275 and 5.4 runs around 2200 in my rifle.

Re: Hope I didn't break my FNH 5-7 already...

Maybe 30 rounds tops and gun was super clean and lightly lubed with FP-10. These were some obviously too hot loads of TB and 40 gr VMaxs that seemed OK in the AR57. I'm going back to 5.2 gr since the chrono shows it duplicating SS197 factory.

Thanks for the ideas. I found the problem but fixing it may be a little tough. I do have a partial case separation with the neck and perhaps the shoulder stuck in the chamber. I'll work on that for a while tomorrow.

Just got it Wednesday and shot up a couple mags today. All was fine until suddenly it jammed. After that, the slide would no longer go all the way closed with a loaded mag in place. The slide would "rack" OK with no mag and would go all the way closed with an empty mag in the gun when I hit the slid...

Have been loading the 40 gr V-Max to duplicate the SS197 load, as well as the 34 gr Midway Dogtown bullet. Re: Problems with bullets being driven back into the case...

Problem solved!!! It WAS a cycling issue and after I dropped the speed of my loads to the 2,200 fps range, cycling was perfect. Evidently my 2,400 fps loads were too much for the 8# buffer that came with the AR57 upper. I suspect the faster loads would also work flawlessly with say a 10-12 # buffer.

Well, the mag isn't the problem. I tried another mag and the reloads messed it up too. The RCBS FL dies are not pushing the shoulder back to where it needs to be to match up with factory ammo. The die is screwed down against the shell holder so there is no more way to push the shoulder back. It appe...

The gun is an AR57 and so are the mags. I had no troubles shooting factory FN blue tips but that was a different mag.
