Re: 5.7 Reloading with the Hornady LNL Progressive Press

Before I set up the Rapid Trim I used an RCBS form trim die and a medium mill bastard. That went pretty fast but not as fast as I shot them. 55 grain is pretty heavy for the 5-Seven, I guess some folks shoot them and for your purposes it should be fine. I had trouble with cycling below 5 gr of TB. N...

Re: 5.7 Reloading with the Hornady LNL Progressive Press

I load 5.7x28 on the LNL-AP. In addition to the shell plate it took a special powder drop tube, to avoid changing the actuator linkage height and a modification to the sub-plate to pull the retaining spring into the groove and not ride up over the rim. Hornady did all the work to their components - ...

Re: Redding Die Set Setup on Dillon 550B

If you bought the Deluxe Set (#80477) you need to use the full length (FL) size die to decap and push the body and shoulder back to spec. Then you need to check the case length.

Re: My Conversations with Hornady and Dillon, on the Five Se

Well...I started working on a progressive reloading setup in January of 2010 and just finished a 1000 round run yesterday. It was, in fact a pricey project but now it's done and works as it should. Here is the tale... 1) Custom size/trim die for my Dillon 1200 rapid trim - $55 from CH4D and a six mo...

Resurrecting this thread...

Does anyone use Accurate #9? Does it really prevent severe shoulder movement?

Thanks,

Dillon spray lube and leave it on for a little extra slip at extraction.

Re: Hornady LNL Custom Shell Plate 5.7 x 28

There are other problems with the 5.7x28 shellplate. I've returned mine to Hornady with a photo essay on how it traps the cartridge at the eject station. They claim I'm the only one to have reported the problem but they also say they have the same problem with my shellplate in their shop. I'm happy ...

Re: Ultrasonic cleaner safe for 5.7x28 ?

I quit using simple green and heat in the US. It softens the coating and the gun digests dull rounds just as well as shiny rounds.

Re: Accuarte #7

That being said, I am willing to bet that the 7.5gr load is more accurate than factory. I guess one day I should sight this thing in and shoot for some groups (I am a pretty lousy shot IMO so we will see how that works out). I certainly agree that hand loads are almost always more consisten...

Re: Accuarte #7

I do not see the point in rolling my own loads if I roll them to the same velocity as factory when I can easily and safely get another 300 fps or so. I have not shot for grouping with this firearm, factory or reloads, but if my 7.5gr load shoots atleast as good as ss197 (and it should group better,...

Re: Accuarte #7

I'm not exactly sure why anybody pushes loads this hard? Its the devil's deal and the devil owns the details. Take it from someone who knows, it's really easy to trash a nice firearm when working at the edge. Back it off and go for best accuracy at the greatest distance. After all...the sonic boom m...

Re: My Dies Come in Today

Thanks for the contact info. I just got off the phone with him and I should be getting my new 5.7 plate in about 12 weeks. Not to worry, I can do a lot of single stage test loading till then. Did you ask him about the powder funnel? The standard measures that come with the the LNL are either too lo...

Re: My Dies Come in Today

I'm successfully loading 5.7x28 on my LNL. Process is as follows; 1. Deprime by hand 2. 3 minute ultrasonic clean in coldwater and simple green. Allow to dry for as long as it takes. 3. Lube with Dillon spray lube. Size and trim on Dillon RT 1200 with custom CH4D trim size die. Press set-up; Custom ...

Loading 5.7x28 on Hornady LNL AP

Anybody loading 5.7x28 on a Hornady LNL? If so, how did you set up the powder measure to get full cylinder rotation? A 3/4 inch spacer worked but Hornady made a special drop tube for me and said I was the first to report partial cylinder rotation.

Thanks,

I changed away from the lube pad because I seemed to get too much or too little lube. Now I use Dillon spray lube (lanolin and alcohol) and leave it on the case after sizing for a little extra slip for extraction.

Re: Lacquer coating solution

New guy here...but I won't get to 50 posts if I don't post somewhere, so... I load for pistol. Followed the instruction for hot vibratory cleaning with simple green but found that the lacquer softened and gummed up the sizing die if I didn't let it set for a week after cleaning. Now I just give them...

I had two made earlier this year. They were $60 or so. It took them 8 months but... I'd sell one if anyone is interested.
