Ruger SR-762 Pics

Here are some pics of my new Ruger SR-762 rifle. Yes... more gun porn.










Of course I could not leave it alone after I brought it home, so it already has a Geissele SSA-E trigger, Gemtech/Smith Vortex flash hider (with lugs), and a Noveske QD Swivel endplate.

I have ordered a Magpul ACS stock, a Larue Tactical quick release riser, and a set of 1" high rings to get the Nikon M-308 above that Samson rear BUIS.

I will come back with a range report once I shoot it. I have already taken the rifle apart, cleaned it, and put it back together. I am pretty impressed with the build quality. My only complaints are; the stock is cheap and wobbles on the extension tube, and there were no QD swivel holes anywhere.

Aside from what seems to be an adjustable gas system, how is that any different than any other AR-10? I'm in the market for a semiauto 7.62x51. While I dream of an M1A, I've also been eyeing the RFB. I had an Armalite AR-10 back in the day, and simply felt is was just a big AR. When I initially heard about the SR762, I got excited, until I found out it was an AR.

The deciding factors for me were:

It was inexpensive
I trust the Ruger brand
It was a piston gun (with adj. gas)
It was inexpensive
It had a Mil-spec trigger group and extension tube
It had a plated bolt and carrier
It was inexpensive
I like the proportions (barrel didn't seem to stick out too far)
It was almost a pound lighter than its competitors
It was inexpensive
It accepts (and ships with) PMAG magazines
It had nice BUIS already installed
It was inexpensive

The POF is $800 more. The SIG 716 was at least $200 more and nearly a pound heavier.
