Bad scope mount???

Post by JoJo » 02 Dec 2012, 10:44

I recently ordered and received a scope mount from a well known manufacturer. The rings portion is not round but rather oval shaped. It seems to be wider than it is high. I have several scope rings lying around and they are perfectly round. I called the manufacturer and they said it is intentional and the mismatch of the top and bottom halves of the rings is also intentional.

I do not have the experience/knowledge to argue. Are they full of crap or am I just ignorant on this point? I was advised that restocking would be 20%. I ordered a new Warne AR mount and it seems to be perfect! :( :( :(

If you don't own a SPUHR mount, then all you've got is a flimsy toy.

I have scope rings like that on my deer rifle and my scope has been dead on with much use for years. Just make it tight and distribute the pressure evenly with all bolts screws, like tightening lug nuts.

Well, it looks like I have an extra scope mount. I will post it in the FS area.

Good grief! The price is silly. That is half the cost of a good scope. I bet you wear a Rolex too.
