300 Blackout Suppressed
I got to shoot one the other day. It was so quiet that I could take my ear plugs out safely (indoors). Sick!

Hmm, going to have to give em a look. I shot the Whisper a lot, and it wasn't that quiet. Only shot the Blkout outdoors. My buddy has one, going to have to see where we can shoot it indoors. My indoor range here doesn't allow any caliber more than 22 out of rifles.

Re: 300 Blackout Suppressed
A quick explanation that it's simply a 220gr FMJ traveling at around 1000fps (less than 500 ft-lbs) should quiet their concerns. The range where I shot it wouldn't allow rifles either. The 300 Blackout is a very unusual platform. The only problem with it is in full auto where the bullets tend to "lost their trajectory/destabilize?" (that's how it was explained to me if that makes any sense).

Yeah, I know the physics around it. They don't allow rifles other than rimfire and pistol calibers (9mm, 45ACP, 40, etc). End of story. Not saying they are right, but thems the rules.
And the Full auto argument doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense. FA is harder to control, so you won't be as accurate, yeah, but the round will have the same ballistics as if fired SA, until of course the barrel heats up and that starts affecting accuracy. I am curious as to where the person that told you that is coming from with that argument.

I didn't pursue the issue so I can't explain his comments. I was just happy to be in the group that was oogling the platform and when he laid it down and asked who wanted to shoot it I was busy lining up the red dot and listening to the pooosht pooosht.flyingirish04 wrote:And the Full auto argument doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense. He made the comment about the descending trajectory after I mentioned how unstable the round felt in my hand (huge bullet compared to a diminutive cartridge). I asked if it tumbled a lot, he responded with the comment about on full auto, there have been problems with bullets going low. It doesn't make sense I know.. Perhaps I misheard him.
