Bullets for 223.

Post by jmz5 » 12 May 2011, 06:15

I just got a sample of Berger 70gr HPBT VLD bullets. Anyone here ever shoot this bullet?
I am going to give them a try in my Savage 10PC.

I have nevr tried VLDs, but everything I have read said they like being jammed into the lands. Watch your pressures.

Jamming a bullet into the lands is NEVER good.

Uh, no. I shoot almost exclusivly Bergers for hunting. I don't jam them into the lands at all. They are close to the lands, but not jammed. There isn't a finer long range hunting bullet readily available then their VLDs.

I have used the 70 grain, and like them. I still prefer the 77 gr SMKs though in my AR. Seem to shoot a bit better. My buddy uses the 70 gr Berger exclusively in his 22-250 AI.

Shoot almost exclusively, 77gr SMK's and 77gr Bergers out of my RRA HBAR 1/8, JMZ.

I've also used 80gr, no problems.
