PS90 with PX90 receiver

This started as a PS90 Tri-rail. I couldn't get a good cheek weld no matter which optic I tried. I replaced the receiver with a Thompson Machine px90 receiver. With an aimpoint micro mounted in the factory mount, my cheek weld feels perfect. The lower profile optic rail made the barrel sticking out so far look unnatural. I finally received my sbr approval and mounted my SWR spectre. I think I finally found the perfect ps90 configuration for me. It even seems to be more accurate with the hi-desert dog 10.3" barrel. I'm not sure if i love it or hate it. The low profile, compactness of it is awesome... but it looks so weird to me, and yet... awesome.

Definitely looks odd, as we are used the traditional profile. However, if I ever purchased a PS90, this is the exact configuration I would have it in. + a sling.

I like the idea, the factory TR is definitely too high. And I always like seeing more aftermarket ps90 products out there.

The only drawback is it leaves the mag quite exposed. Personally I like how the factory ps90 receiver encloses the mag and offers a bit more protection in the event of a drop, fall, toss, twirl, etc that an elite operator like myself might subject it to . IMO that's one of the drawbacks of the AR57 as well is how the mag is so exposed. I've even thought about devising some rail mounted mag cage for the front part of the AR57 (yet another project).

how is loading the mag on it? The standard receiver guides the mag into place, keeps it from sliding left or right while loading it.

I was actually worried about this before I put this one together. However, I find the mag changes are even quicker. I haven't had one fail to "hit home" even when trying to be quick and tactical about it. The mag insertion is actually more versatile, as the mag can be inserted from several different angles.
