14 vs 15 round 45 magazines

Post by fastmtnbiker33w » 21 Sep 2010, 10:13

The FNP 45, depending on which model you order, comes with a mix of 14 rounders and plus a 15 round mag. What's up with that? Why didn't they just make the 15 round mag only?

With 15 rounds, they top Para Ordnance by one. It's like Spinal Tap...."Our amps go to eleven. It makes us one louder than everyone else!"

The 45 usg dark earth comes with 2 14 rounders and one 15 rounder. Is it because the 15 rounder is a bit longer and has the bigger floor plate? Why bother making more products? Why not just make the 15? And maybe 10 rounders for Kalifornia?

I don't have one yet. I've got the cash stashed, just waiting on the best deal. Gonna have to order it anyway as the dark earth model is pretty hot and in demand.

It just seems that by not producing the 14 rd mag, production costs would be much lower bringing the price of the firearm itself down.

the mag bodies are the same. some may prefer the flush mount of the 14rd vs the extended base of the 15rd.

Have you guys tried loading the 14 w/ 15 rounds? Did you compare the springs, were they the same?

lol. They're the same. the 15 just has a slightly longer base plate, allowing for the spring to move down, and allow the last round.

The 14's Really don't allow for 15 at all. I figure like everyone else that the 15's are only a different base plate.

if I'm not mistaken...

the fnp45 with no safety had (3) 14 round mags.
the fnp45 usg with safety has (1) 15 and (2) 14 round mags.
the fnp45 tactical with (yadda..) has (3) 15 round mags.

this makes me think that (obviously) the 14 rounders came first (making a patch according to projected sales). later came the upgraded base plates so they mix and match to keep customers from belly aching about having to buy 15 rounders. 14 and 15 rounders go into boxes givin the "option". with the new tactical they wanted a new color and since they had the "new" magazines plan on deck they probably only made the earth in 15 round base plates.

with that said... bring on the 20 and 25 round sticks!!!

Anybody know a good place to buy extra mags? My gun store doesn't carry them.
