12 Ga vs. 20 Ga for Skeet & Trap

I've been looking at a Benelli SBE II [left-handed] as a first shotgun and having read some of the posts on this 'ere forum am undecided whether to, perhaps, go for a Cordoba.

Without putting too fine a point on it: Are you considered to be a dork/pussy if you use 20ga? Having killed a few clays with both it seems the 20ga would do less shoulder damage over time. Yet the Comfortech stock on the SBE seems like a good compromise if 12ga is recommended.

Martin, grow up and stop caring about what people think. Yes, 20ga is completely fine to use for trap and skeet, but the only tradeoff is that you have to remember the potential breaking power of 12 vs 20. At longer ranges, the 12 hits better. However if you take your shot when you're supposed to, at the right vector and angle, you do not need a 20. I've shot trap and sporting alot with a 20 and a 12. They both work.

No offense taken. I always appreciate a straightforward answer. Both the AA-12 & Saiga looks so bad@ss I think the clays would shatter from fear.

I'm very taken with the SBE and, due to inexperience, the 12 ga is probably going to give me more hits.

I'm pretty new to the whole shooting experience and have found the explanations/comments on this forum to be really useful. Thanks.

A buddy of mine has a break action 20ga that feels like it kicks more than the 10ga. In response to the question, I'd say go with the 12. To me there's not that much more felt recoil, and a 12 will give you better results if someday you need to use it for something other than clay.
