A day of creating a powder profile for our new powder.
A day of creating a powder profile for our powder.
It has never been sold in the US until now and will only be available to commercial loaders.
It's a lot of work starting with a blank slate. Even more so since I only have about 10 grand in ballistic hardware. There are two pieces of equipment I would love to have but they are 50 grand each and only places like Western Powder have so they can blend and create their powders.
So far though this powder is the ballistic twin to PBC673.
I have worked up some basic loads and we are getting ready to pressure test these loads.
One of the other perks of this powder besides being perfect for the 5.7x28mm is the fact I can get over 5 thousand pounds of it a month indefinitely.
This combines with our new in house brass will mean big changes in the 5.7 ammo supply chain.

Cool stuff. Do you plan to lacquer coat your cases? Are you able to manufacture your own projectiles as well?

Sweetness. EA brass, thicker necks, custom powder made to your specifications...seems like the only limiting factor might be if primers became scarce again.
Still, this is awesome.

would a thicker neck effect the design, or at least handloading?

If you can get target loads back down to $22/50, my FsN might get to come out of its case again...

Ooh...shipping would kill that price. And you can't even buy factory rounds that cheap.
I wonder though...now that Jay has brass...could a 'less expensive' practice round be made?

OK
Yes the neck will be thicker to avoid neck separations.
Internal volume had to be reduced of course. Which is nothing new, you would be surprised how many differences there are in just 45acp brass from Winchester or Remington. SAAMI allows for a certain percentage difference and still be in spec. I will provide the difference in the loading section of the forum. I will also be selling the virgin brass. I will also start to pursue SAAMI certification of the 5.7x28mm round.
For now brass is being ran in small lots so there will be no price break until around the 6 month mark when production volume can drive the price down.
ALL of our trident bullet line will be returning and in even more calibers.
With the thicker case walls I am experimenting with no coating of any type. Still working on this though.
So far this literally brand new powder in the ballistic twin of PBC673.

Didn't the ATF make you not manufacture the trident line, those pieces of SH*t. I hope you can still manufacture them as well as casings for the 5.7x28mm. That would be great. I just read the ATF took 15,000 dollars of your merchandise from the internet and took all your BBS. It is the internet so It could be wrong.

The ATF's problem was with the material being used, not the round itself.
EA used to use bronze made from turned down BBS, now they use copper.

We used brass which is legal in rifle bullets but not pistol. ATF reclassified u bunch of rounds as pistol.
It's fine I now use an exotic copper that is 10 points harder then brass on the rockwell scale.

I gotcha well best of luck to you, it looks like things are starting to look up for EA and business is growing substantially. I personally reload all of my ammo just 5.7 ammo because of the price you just cant beat it. I am getting a couple hundred feet per second faster than factory ammo and I am getting devastating results.

Once upon a time, you had a source for new 28 grain projectiles. Those were the days.

Glad to be adding to your in come! Good news to read. If things go well, hope to see more 5.7x28 in more reloading manuals or a comprehensive purist manual.

Spent all day shooting the new powder through pressure barrel and chrono. It was a very good day.

LOL not as much fun as it sounds. Shoot, scan 3 different output windows, wait 3 minutes and repeat.
Every 10 rounds save data.

So happy this has come to fruition; awaiting test results and more ammo!
It's funny how tight knit our forum is, but everyone I've met here in Texas that owns a FsN or P90 buys and carries EA.
And some have never heard of this forum.
