Hi all,
I know this must have already been covered but I can't find it. I am looking for a tested recipe for re-loading 5.7 shells with 55 or 62 grain .223 projectiles (preferably 62 grain). I actually want to slow the velocity quite a bit because my range won’t let me shoot anything above 1350 FPS.
Thanks.

From what I've read (despite never reloading myself) you don't want to go above 50 or 55 grains. Whether this is simply poor velocity or a stabilization issues, I don't know. Could even lead to too high of pressures. I'll let a seasoned reloader pop in, good luck.

Re: Relaoding 5.7 with 55 or 62 grain .223
For low velocity rounds you can usually get away with a heavier bullet in the FsN. Normally, anything above 55gr has stability issues but some people have had success using heavier bullets with subsonic loads. I have tried heavier bullets on my attempts at subsonic rounds BUT I have not perfected any recipe & have had stability issues with all weights

Contrary to popular belief, you CAN fix stupid - it's just illegal.

If the max speed allowed at your range is 1350, then try 4.4grs of True Blue with a 55gr FMJ w/ a COL of 1.580 - should get you around 1325 fps from the FsN...Straight-G wrote:Hi all,
