Anyone recommend a sharpner for a CRKT knife?

looking for a good sharpener.

Was looking into some wetstone grinder type setup... it takes too darn long by hand.... IMHO.

The crkt knives are sharpened only on one side, so it makes sharpening it a little difficult.

I have the CRKT point guard, and although it takes forever to sharpen, it takes longer to get dull. I love the thing, and I figure the hand sharpening is pretty darn good, and a nice activity to do while relaxing around the fire pit. Its a real mans alternative to knitting.

I've got one laying around somewhere, my jury is still out on it. I think if you clamped it down to a table or something it might be a bit better but it just not a sturdy/precise enough motion for me. And trust me my knife sharpening needs are low, if it cuts the tape on boxes and any other misc crap I run into its sharp enough for me.

I could find it and give it another whirl though when I get back home, and if you still want to try it I will give you a good deal :p

I've been big into knives for a long time and there are alot of good ones out there, but a Lansky is very hard to beat. I have several little sharpeners you just pull the blade through that do well also. They can fit in your pocket they are so small. The stones are in the shape of an x and you just pull the blade through.....works good and about 4 bucks.

I use a Lansky kit on my blades as well. Choices in stones, choices in angle of grind, good stuff.

I need to sharpen the Veff serrations on my CRKT.
Maybe when I'm not so tired/lazy/busy/watching football I'll get around to doing that. :ponder:

How do you like it?

Works fine on most knives. It is not as good for larger knives though. I have a fixed blade Gerber and the blade is almost too wide to fit in the guide...

Got a sharpener I bought at a show, years ago. Watched this guy slam a knife with a file and hammer, ran it throw for 5 minutes and it shaved your arm. GREAT sharpener! Has 4 slots, you start at the roughest and move your way around by the last, it is razor sharp.

You can't make a post like that and not tell us more! Make? Model? Any more info?

Well, I completely suck at sharpening knives which is ridiclous since I own about 20 knives and REALLY love collecting and using a good knife. I bought and Lansky and sucked at using it also... It didn't work for me at all. I tried a few others and FINALLY found one I can use: Work Sharp (I bought mine from Cabela's).

All of my expensive kitchen knives, Bechmade's, ESEE's, Tops' Mircrotechs are now damn razor sharp 100% of the time. It is an idiot proof sharpening system. I actually enjoy using the Work Sharp and hated messing with the Lansky. I will sell a nearly new Lansky system complete with extra stones, etc... if anyone is interested.

I have found the Chefs Choice is a very good electric sharpener. I prefer the large tri stones, they will sharpen anything.
