Website Stats

Post by f3rr37 » 30 Jan 2010, 00:57

Someone brought up something about the membership on the forum recently and I thought I would put together some graphs to see how we've been doing as a forum.

New Members each month:
Image
We have an average of 137 new members every month :thumb: It seems that the summer months are a low point in when we get new members, but the fall season seems to be when new people join the forum the most.

Graph of membership growth:
Image
We've been increasing at a pretty constant rate, it is almost perfectly linear.

Only other thing I have is disk usage stats for the server, but those are boring and pretty flat graphs except for when I make copies of things when doing testing.

137? That's insane given the fact that most of us remember each other's names.

I guess there is that 90% of lurkers that don't post anything.

Yeah, kind of typical... There are only 80 members who have more than 100 posts, and 133 who have more than 50 posts.

!!!!!! That's ridiculous. I can't even find the word.. atrocious. So less than the amount that join each month actually have over 50 posts... how many paying members we have at least?

I kinda get that. I joined a couple other forums for information but I don't participate in the daily banter.
I pop in daily and look for new information on the caliber or firearm......but over there I'm one of the '3 post' members.

I finally joined another forum but the only reason I did was because I couldn't see anything unless I did. Only made one post on it so far & that was an intro. I don't know if that is standard but if so, then it may explain why we have so many members & so few posting :ponder:

I belong to a number of sites, but usually just read what's going on. Probably similar situation here.

I belong to several others also, BUT this is the only one that I actually participate in. The nice thing about being here, is you can express an opinion and have a dialogue without having issues. We have a great group of admins, and moderators and that makes being a part of this forum a real pleasure. :thumb:

I joined because I had bought a USG. However, I'm off and on all day. We all know each other which is neat seeing how large we have become. The best part, is that I've gotten new members to "my family". We become much, much more than friends. This forum has become an important part of my life. Thanks! :thumb:

I joined to do some research on the caliber before I committed to buying it. Really excellent group of people here, I almost always have a tab with this page open anytime I'm on the computer, love being here (as much as one "can be" online :D ). I think it's odd that so few people post, but I'd rather have them quietly lurking than spreading false information. Think I've got 6 posts on FNForum.net. Me no likey there.

I get on to read father's and fuzzy's jokes in the appropriate humor. They always crack me up. Was laughing tears yesterday.

I just came by for the dirty jokes and ended up staying.
I think I fell into the 'more than 3 posts' last week... :ponder:

If I don't have anything to say, why take up bandwidth? I read many of the threads, but do not know as much as many posters so instead of possibly giving wrong information, I just keep my mouth shut.

To my understanding, one aspect of the forum is for you to share you knowledge so others can benefit, I mean, I'd like to learn from your experience, too! :)
