Beretta CX4 Storm

Post by Llagoud » 23 Aug 2008, 05:41

I am heading to the range now to enjoy a bunch of the beautiful .40 S&W ammo recently purchased from EA West.
This is probably the last time the CX4 will be seen 'naked'. Houts just sent the confirmation that a grand in accessories will arrive next Friday.

Naked:

Doesn't look bad naked...

You'll like the vertical front grip on it, the built in horizontal grip feels clumsy to me.

The CX4 is registered as a rifle though right? If not you'll have to make sure and register it as an AOW if legal in your state once you have the front grip.

It's great how the addition of a front grip makes the gun soooo much more dangerous and requires AOW registration under NFA. :wall:

It's a sweet gun. I mentioned in the ammo thread that I still have a lot of learnin' to do.
I've been shooting for just over a year now and I still catch myself occassionally anticipating recoil or squeezing off a second round slightly before being back on target.

Fogged glasses and eyes burning with sweat are probably good for practice.

The improved optics/sights will be great. I put a dab of yellow sight paint on the front factory sight...and well......the freaking base layer on the shoot-N-see targets is neon yellow!

More practice needed. Much more.

Another couple jugs of the same Harlan? :D

Not by much and only depending on who you say it to. I doubt the UPS guy finds either funny anymore.

Thanks EARS. I went to FleetFarm yesterday and picked up an inexpensive laser bore-sighter so I can do the rough adjusting downstairs in the chapel.
I'll do the fine tuning at the range.
Eotech is on the nutz horizontally with bore-laser but sits a tad high, TLR2 is at about 2 o'clock on the edge of the Eotech reticle. I originally put the TLR2 on the left rail, but found that when mounted on the right rail as I cradle the CX4 with my left hand the switch is right there and easily tapped or flipped by my left middle finger.
There will probably be some evolving as I get to use it more.
I don't have the time or the patience to sit at the range and fire a shot, pull target close enough to see....return target....
<tweak tweak>
fire a shot, pull target close enough to see....return target....
<tweak tweak>
fire a shot, pull target close enough to see....return target....
<tweak tweak>

etc....
I suppose it's time to buy a spotting scope. ;)

Are you still liking this unit? Any new insights + or -? I'm getting another itch to buy something.

Yes indeedy. I'm very happy with the purchase.
I was even eyeballing a used 9mm at the gun shop.
It was a perfect fit for me, right out of the box, some of you big fellas might want the optional butt-stock spacers.

I'm hoping to get some more outdoor shooting with it before the snow flies.
