Neverfox, Yes I own both the CZ P-01 (the smaller one) and the FSN. I shoot both pretty regularly and have a lot of confidence in both of them. I really like the P-01 because is can pull double duty as a holster gun or a concealed carry gun. The P series CZ 75's are a third generation gun with many upgrades over the second generation CZ 75, also known as the CZ 75B. Many people consider the upgrades that were given to the P-series guns to be unnecessary because the CZ 75b was so good anyways. The looks were also majorly changed on the new guns, So just be aware of people saying that.
To address the issue of your bad experience, I can understand some of it. The stock CZ sights do have kind of small dots (Rugers and some other guns do too). Since you were shooting a range gun, the dots were probably dirty and could use fresh paint which will make them slightly bigger, brighter and easier to pick up. Yes, if you have long hands (long fingers and a tall palm) you may find the cz series grip to be a little thin for you. This can be fixed by putting a hogue grip sleeve or actual hogue replacement grips on it. The thin grip is good for concealment and wearing gloves though, I guess you will have to decide for yourself on that issue.
The accuracy issue is very strange. Most people are very accurate with the cz 75, even if it is their first time shooting one. I would probably guess this would be you just not being used to the grip and trigger or the barrel could have been very dirty, which is common for rental guns.
As far as the casings hitting you, what type of ammo were you using and are you left handed? I have seen a lot of guns eject strangely with casings that are not made out of brass. My p-01 actually ejects slightly forward (similar to the FSN) with any ammo I have tried. Other than that I really dont know what to tell you on that one.
I can make some other recommendations based on your likes (they seem to be similar to mine). Most people that like both the CZ P-series and the fiveseven tend to like the springfield XD series guns, especially the new XD-M. The new sigs, with the rail on the bottom also tend to appeal to people that like that look of gun. The all black FNP 9 or smith and wesson M&P might be good choices too.
I hope this helps, Good luck!

CZ 75 SP-01
Re: CZ 75 SP-01
I just picked up a new Witness Match in 10mm, full size, all steel, two 15 round mags - looks like a CZ knock-off...
Actually, I was told CZ makes the parts and Tanfoglio (Italian Firearms maker) assembles, and EAA imports - (but I'm sure some know it all will pop in here and correct me-if I'm wrong :lmao: )
Bought it to abuse the crap out of - and see how it holds up - cheap unit

Re: CZ 75 SP-01
Your popped
Nope Tanfoglio makes all their own parts. Tanfoglio made copies of the CZ back when the iron curtain was up and you could not get CZ's. I have been a CZ collector and Witness 10mm collector for years. CZ/Witness grip angles and fit are legend. Most if not all people shoot better with them. I am vey big guy but I have small hands so getting a double stack that fits is hard for me.
Here are some pics. The first is a factory CZ75B cutaway.
