3" Nines

Post by Mister Freeze » 07 Jan 2014, 06:13

I now have a G26 (meh) and a CZ 2075 (yay!). They are the loudest guns I've ever owned. (AR-10 is in second place, followed by the FsN)
What would be a better load for such a short barrel? The thinking here in the office is a +P+ in order to maximize velocity from such a short barrel. Research shows that from a 3", +P+ loads and subsonics have similar velocities. I attribute the excessive noise to hotter loads. Cor-Bon has a 95gr load that is a claimed 1300fps from a 3.1" barrel. Anybody have any feedback on this load? I'm guessing (and hoping) the lighter bullet requires a lower charge to gain that velocity and may be quieter.

I'm not looking for 'quietness' per se, just less noise and concussion to me, the shooter. I'm not interested much in energy or penetration; shot placement can overcome that.

Any input from folks with experience in 9mm's with short barrels would be appreciated.

???
Just looking for folks' experiences with short 9mm's. What are your experiences with your .40S&W Rami?

It's loud and kicks like a snub nosed 38spl+p loaded revolver. Do to the CZ frame it feels much better and does not beat up your hand as much as the wheel gun.

I don't mind it much but then I enjoy shooting my compact 10mm stuffed with my super hot 10mm.

That must be loud! I've always been a CZ fan, and love this Rami. I guess trial and error (and expense) will find a load that's right for me. My preferred 124gr HydrShoks just don't seem ideal for these guns, IMO.
