Ruger LCP

I got my LCP a few weeks ago and put several hundred rounds of magtech blue box, hornady TAP, and Corbon DPX through it without one hangup. Great gun for the $275 that I paid for it.

Have you seen the necklace holster they have for these? I've seen both a vertical and horizontal one, though they may be the same holster just set up different. Vertical just seems like a bad idea to me as it's pointing muzzle up, as it towards your brain box.

How does the Ruger compare to the Kel-tec? From the pictures it looks VERY much the same as the Kel-tec. :ponder:

I've shot the kel-tec and know 2 people that have shot both and they say the ruger is just a little bit more comfortable to shoot, but nothing significant.

There's just something about a Ruger though. I gots a soft spot for em. My first 9MM was a Ruger and it was the smoothest, best shooting 9 I've ever had. I should have never traded it off.

I picked one up today....it was sitting there all lonely in the case and called out to me.

I think the massive lock that came with it weighs more than it does.

I checked out a kel tec in the gun case and the Ruger looks a lot better made for only a few dollars more. It's not as ugly as the kel tec either.

Yeah just my luck that you buy something and someone comes along and makes a better mousetrap. I have the Kel-tec p3at .380, does all it should and goes anywhere. It is ugly though. The Ruger is much better looking and seems by all reviews to be just as reliable as the Kel-tec. I got one of the neck holsters to with 2 different pocket holsters. My neck holster points horizontal not vertical. It works great and it sounded like a good idea at the time but I still could not get used to wearing it. Just too close to my head.

I am going to get a Kahr P380 as soon as I can get my hands on one, will be interesting to compare the two.

The Kahr is notably larger, though still smaller than the Sig P230 that I carry for a back-up. I'm considering one of these mice for a more concealable back-up. I just love the way the P230 fits in my hand and it's consistency and ease of firing. Now, if there were a ~3" barrel ~10 round sub-compact 5.7x28mm that would be a nice little back-up gun!

I got my Crimson Trace laser today, only problem is, I don't have a holster that will fit with the laser attached.
So the laser will stay off until I can find one.

I have the same laser on my Kel Tec .380. I got my holster from Cutt Leather, here in Rochester NY his phone number is (585) 865-8424. Bob Cutt made a pocket holster and a tuck away inside the pants holster for me. You can call him and he can quote any prices. Tell him I recommended you called. All his holsters are custom made by him.

i just paid for my LCP, i picked it up from impact guns since i can NOT find it locally at all. it says they are on deep backorder on their site, so i dont expect it any time soon

. but i figured i might as well buy it now and wait as apposed to buying it later and waiting longer and paying more lol. i got this for either myself or my gf. i know i can use it as a pocket gun if she doesnt like it. i wanted to get something "cooler" but i am saving up for something i can not afford lol

I suggest cancelling your order and trying to find it elsewhere. Impactguns sells "everything" but never has "anything" in stock.

i looked on GB and found them but more expensive. this isnt a gun i really need so waiting a few weeks (maybe months) wont really bother me. otherwise yes, i would have went to GB. just seems the LCP is so backordered everywhere that they go for a lot more on GB.

well waiting years would suck monkey balls...but a few weeks, maybe 2-3 months i can deal with. i also went with them because i bought a few 10rd mag extensions from them. they were in stock so hopefully that means they will be shipped soon.

it took 9 days for me to get the automated email thanking me for my order...and no reply to either of my emails to them. i understand times are pretty busy for them, but sh*t, 2 weeks with no response and 9 days for an automatic email to go through????? F-THAT! still havent gotten the mag extenders either or even heard anything about them....

Well, I just became a member of the LCP club. I have had a Walther PPK/S for years, but man is this little gun small, thin, and light. I like it very much. Next purchase will be the crimson trace laser and a pocket holster. Oh, and a couple of extra mags.

Just got some new stuff for the LCP. I got a Crimson Laser and a pocket holster for it. Very nice stuff. The pocket holster looks like a wallet in your back pocket (although a rather large wallet).

FYI ...

Last week I received a letter (sent to all Ruger firearms dealers, yes I am one) from the factory about a RECALL on LCP handguns. It seems that some of them are going off when dropped. This recall involves quite a few of the LCP guns. The factory will pay for shipping back and forth for your gun, and properly fix the situation. I don't seem to find the letter right now, but I will find it and post it later. On the meantime you can call the Ruger's number on your warrantee papers and they will tell you how to proceed. Do not take a chance as this recall pretty much involves most of the LCP's made.

Went to a gun show tonight & finally fondled an LCP. I do not have big hands but that was just too small. I got a Bersa .380 instead. Its a little big for pocket gun but still small enough that it will work. It was also about $100 cheaper than the LCP

Thank for the previous thread bump. Glad y'all catch'd up. The recall is still ongoing for the serial numbers shown in the Ruger link. Heck they are giving you free goodies (for your troubles/inconvenience with the recall) while making sure your little peepsqueak don't get you into trouble. Ruger is a nice company to deal with, great customer relations. :thumb: :clap:

As for the size. I have carried a Walther PPK/S for years. I love that gun, but it is a bit on the large side and heavy for convenient (comfortable) summer carry. I usually switch to my Seecamp .32 in the summer, but the .32 caliber is less than I'd like to carry for protection. For me, the LCP is a perfect compromise. It carries in my back pocket like the Seecamp, but shoots the .380 that the Walther was chambered for.

If size were not a consideration, I'd carry my Sig P220 everywhere. But... convenience and comfort insist on a smaller pistol. The LCP is thin, and about halfway between the Seecamp and Walther in size. The perfect compromise? I think so.

I have actually carried the LCP with me everywhere since I bought it. You know what they say about a small gun in your pocket being better than a large gun at home in your nightstand. It's true.

P.S. I love my Crimson Trace laser and the leather wallet style pocket holster I bought. I don't even realize I am carrying it.

I have been thinking very hard about carrying one of those LCP's. I have fired one, and while it is not that impressive, it can be adequate when nothing else (bigger) is available. I had a Kel-Tec 380 but rusting in the hot Florida summers can be a problem. Very often I just switch my Para 14-40 LDA (in 10mm) from my hip to my right pants pocket. Surprisingly enough it actually fits there even if there is no room for anything else. Hehehe !!! Or otherwise one of my "Detonics" grip sized 3" barreled 1911's in 10mm (7 + 1) in aluminum frame and stainless slide and barrel at 20 oz. But I hate putting "rub" wear on the 1911 little gem. The LCP is cheap and lightweight enough, and at close range emptying it on a assailant should teach the miscreant some manners.

For many years I carried a Walther PPK in an ankle holster, and I hated it. I got it from a friend, Lt. Jones ("jonesy") of the Englewood N.J., P. D. who previously used it as his back-up gun. Then I carried it in that ankle holster when on duty at the N.Y.C.P.D. for a few years while working with the Auxiliary Dept. in the 20 Pct. and Central Park Pct. I still got that PPK, but presently I'd rather carry the LCP, if .380 ACP is the choice. :thumb:

We just got her yesterday. The wife loves it. What started as a quest for a new .22 turned into her first carry pistol in .380. Too bad she doesn't have her permit yet... I guess I'll just have to bear this cross and carry it for a little while...

I still love mine. I have a holster that looks like a wallet for concealed carry. I also have the Crimson Trace laser on it. With the laser, I can hit a nickel at 21 feet with the LCP. It is a pretty amazing little gun. I have fired about 100 rounds of Hydra-Shoks through mine and have not had a single malfunction.

Shot mine for the first time... well, 50 or so times at the Fuzzy shoot. What is it with Ruger & that long trigger pull? Hate that :skep: But it will still make a good pocket/back up gun. It has a bit more of a bark & kick than I thought it would & is easily concealable.

Fun little gun, long mushy trigger pull though. Should be small and easy to conceal though. I think it might have been tamer than the Bersa Thunder 380 CC I've shot before.

Yes, the trigger does suck. It is about the only drawback to this little gun however (well besides it doesn't shoot .45 ACP). I intend to see if I can have some trigger work done on mine. I like it enough that it would be worth it.

The trigger does suck on it, but I have seen worse, much worse. S&W Sigma anyone? :laugh:

I say if you need it for a social occasion, you won't have time to worry about the nasty trigger.
