No, you want a .41magnum. Stronger ballistics than the 10mm.
Plus, in these times of ammo shortage you won't have to chase your brass unless you're cycling the DAE 44/41 pistol.

Anything the 10mm can do the 41mag can do
Anything the 41mag can do, the 10mm cannot do.
The 41mag can push heavier bullets, can push bullets faster, and projectiles penetrate deeper than 10mm bullets.
Just sayin'.

Heck yeah the .41 can fit in the palm of yer hand (there are some 41magnum snubbies that are small)!

I picked up 500 rounds of 10mm ammo today off backpage for $200. That ought to last a good day in the desert.
Re: EAA Witness Elite Match 10mm & EA Ammo...
I am with you on the 10mm, I have a Witness Match, Compact and the Hunter, Damn fine pistols and shoot like shown in the picture in the forum. My hunter consistently holds 2" or less groups at 15 yards. It has the same horsepower as a .41Mag. Enjoy your as I do mine.

I say what recoil, I gave up shooting my FNP-45 Competition at matches for the 10mm, my hand no longer hurts after a day of shooting. Just saying, I have large meat hooks. :-)

That's why you have to load 200PF, usually 220PF to have fun.

I've been shooting some of the EA stuff, and the recoil is pretty light if you ask me. At least that's based on the perception I had after reading what many said to expect.blueorison wrote:There is no recoil shooting factory 10mm.myersc57 wrote:I say what recoil, I gave up shooting my FNP-45 Competition at matches for the 10mm, my hand no longer hurts after a day of shooting. LOL
In the heavier guns they fare better, it's more of a push than a snap.
However, they are snappy as heck out of a lighter commander-sized gun.

Re: EAA Witness Elite Match 10mm & EA Ammo...
I finally found a way to satisfy several itches at once. I got the Rock Island Arms 1911 in 10mm. It's a serious 1911, without having to shell out the coin for a Dan Wesson or a Colt Delta Elite. I know, worthless without pics. I just tried to log in to my Imageshack account, only to discover that it isn't free anymore. I have to pay to keep using it. I will figure this out and get pics up soon.

Armscor is the only 1911 that probably won't jam out of the box under intense shooting
STI, Kimber (ew), SIG (ew), Eddie Bau... er Ed Brown, Les Mis...Baer, etc etc... even Dan Wesson.

Re: EAA Witness Elite Match 10mm & EA Ammo...
Well, that was a PITB, figuring out how to post from Photobucket.
This gun shop out in Pahrump, NV has a pretty serious relationship with Armscor, as they developed the 22tcm round for them. When Armscor goes out to the SHOT or NRA show, these guys clip the firing pins on the display guns before they go. When they get back, they put a new firing pin in, replace the recoil and mainsprings with 20# and 24#, and tune everything so it runs perfect. Then, of course, sell it to me. At least this one. Range report coming soon.
Re: EAA Witness Elite Match 10mm & EA Ammo...
I give up on the photos. I have read the posting instructions over and over, and I just can't get it to work. Bummed, because I took a lot of photos of the targets for my range report. Anyway, without photos, let me describe a pretty nice evening at the range. On Wednesday and Thursday evenings, they started turning on the lights and keeping the range open till 10:00 pm. It's over 100 in the day, so I don't know why they don't do every evening. Rant....
I brought along my 5.7 IOM for a baseline. Also brought the RIA 10mm and three types of ammo. I had 50 rounds of aluminum cased CCI blazer, 50 rounds of very cool nickel case UMC, and 50 rounds of some reloads I picked up.
First, at 7 yards, the 5.7 with SS197SR just made a mess of the bullseye, as usual. I shot 14 rounds of each 10mm load (before I discovered the mag holds 8). About the 5th mag in, I had one Blazer fail to chamber all the way, but that was solved with just a touch to the back of the slide. No other failures of any type in 150 rounds. At 7 yards, the groups were about 5 inches with all three ammos. The reloads were noticeably lower powered, and more fun to shoot, and more accurate.
I moved the targets out to 20 yards. I also switched to AE 5.7 ammo in the IOM, which always doubles the size of my groups. They spread out to 5 or 6 inches. The 10mm groups got a couple inches looser, but still pretty reasonable.
Downside. The bottom edge of the mainspring housing does not fit smooth like it should. It will be easy to fix, but in the meantime it chewed up my hand a bit. The VZ grips are also a little like petting a porcupine, made worse by the 10mm horsepower. I will be grinding the MSH and switching to a smoother grip.
Overall, thrilled with the gun.

Re: EAA Witness Elite Match 10mm & EA Ammo...
Sweet!!!
Thanks for the range report and pointers.
I prefer ss195 to 197 to AE. 197 used to be damn accurate, then it kinda went downhill.
However, most of my FsN shooting (unlike my 9mm shooting) is under 25 yds (ironic, considering the ballistics of the round vs 9mm) versus 100 yds and beyond with the 9mm, so I don't mind AE.
I have 1000 rounds of ss195 I traded a gun for, which I think I'll post for trade for ss197 or AE on value.
10mm out of my Glock 20 stock bbl gets me about 2-3 inches at 25 yds with handloads. I'm still trying to figure out how Underwood is loading their Noslers so accurately; I tried loading up some Nosler 10mm and it shoots all over. Probably have to go with Dillon/RCBS dies instead of Lee. Iono.

Re: EAA Witness Elite Match 10mm & EA Ammo...
I am pretty close to giving up. I upload photos on other forums all the time without any problem, but just can't seem to get it to work here. I'd like to post a couple of photos of the gun and the targets.
With the 10mm, it was interesting to me that I shot better groups with the milder reloads. I don't feel like I was flinching with the hotter loads, but maybe so.
I have a few rounds left of old brown box ss192. It is the most accurate of anything I have shot. The 195 was similar but not quite as tight as the old 192. I shot up all the 195 so that I wouldn't have to consider the storage life of lead free primers. I have been shooting the 197, which is pretty accurate, but with a much lower POI than the 192/197. I made the mistake of picking up 1,000 rounds of AE. I am shooting through it just for the heck of it, but it is hard to tell you what the POI is, as the groups are much bigger. It also jams in my PS90 once in a while, and I can't recall ever having a jam with FN ammo.
