Goes bang.

Cumbersome and unnecessarily heavy.

Trigger is pretty decent.

Goes bang.

Better than the crappy M9s they issued us.

the m9/92fs is good if you have unnaturally large gorilla hands. it is WAY bigger than it needs to be.

I have never had a reliable, nor accurate M9. And I would bet that I have shot more of them than most. Heck, I went through 5 alone in training at Bragg. Every one was either fatigued to being inoperable, except two that actually blew apart, slide separating from frame. Still have a scar from one of those. Down range, I had a brand new sidearm that sheared a firing pin. The only one that didn't break was one that I had for a week till the armorer secured some 1911s and Glock 19s from Team 5 as they rotated out. Thank God.

There is a reason that every unit that had a choice to arm their people with other firearms did so. The 92 on the other hand is ok. It is built a lot better, know plenty of people that have thousands of rounds through theres without fail. But overly large and uselessly overweight. The magazines are still terrible.

There are plenty of better options out there than the M9. The fact our soldiers are issued it is a tragedy.

Irish,
Didn't the choice come down between the P226 and the M9 back in the 80's? I just remember the M9 getting the pick because of price, although it got beat out by something (could be the 226 or something else) in a lot of the tests.

Who knows though, it's late, and my memory is horrible anymore.

I did get a chance to shoot one of the 92 compacts about a year ago a friend picked up used. Was accurate enough, but the thing ate anything and everything we fed it. Only semi I've ever seen feed an entire mag of CCI shotshells was that thing (tried it just because). But it still didn't rank high on either of lists due to the grip, and how wide the slide is because of the open barrel design.

Back on topic. Shot the PX4 before, like blue said it goes bang and it's big and heavy. I though the opposite of the trigger though, I though it was awful. Just gritty, and a long reset. Plus add in a vote that it looks kinda stupid to me with the slide design, but that's just me. It was decently accurate though.
