Re: EXCEL ARMS
Has anyone got an X-5.7P and shot it yet?
Better to have a tank when you don't need it then to need a tank when you don't have it.

Re: EXCEL ARMS
no 5.7x28 pistols in the catalogs for excel... I wish someone would get one of their rifels so we could get some comparative chrono data. They're blowback....if I was gonna manufacture one, I'd have considered a different mechanism like a rotating bolt or something....so it could take higher charges

Re: EXCEL ARMS
In their section they keep saying "soon"
Re: EXCEL ARMS
Accelerator appears to be the only traditional pistol, the other one is more an AR style pistol. Both list a blow-back action and 8.5" barrel. Might be able to get some real decent velocities out that Accelerator pistol. The trade-off is that it lists a 9 round capacity. The rail along the top is a nice feature for scopes (which is a PIA to do w/ a FsN). They already have .22's with a very similar design.
...but those guns aren't in the any of the catalogs I've seen. Be interesting to find out what price they plan to release them at.

X-5.7R Retail is $795.00 (BASIC)
ACCELERATOR line has a 9 round capacity do to fitting this cal. into a existing format.
MP-5.7 Retail is $585.00 (BASIC)
MR-5.7 Retail is $640.00 (BASIC)
Re: EXCEL ARMS
Thanks FZR! (and Excel, lol)
Those price points aren't bad so long as QC is up to snuff and the guns are accurate. I'd consider getting the Accelerator pistol when I get the scratch... be much easier to mount a scope on, and therefore hunt with or target shoot (dunno if i'd want only 9 rnds for self-defense). Also, 8.5" may produce more velocity than EA's upcoming 8" barrels.... that remains to be seen. We don't know how strong their springs are or if there might be discrepancies in the chamber dimensions and twist rate....
...but we still dont know when they will be SELLING the pistols.
I would like to congratulate Excel on taking the risk to put these weapons on the market. You are certainly on the cutting edge. Its only a matter of time before this cartridge becomes more popular.

Post merged with existing thread.
I haven't heard anything definite about Excel Arms in while, wonder how they're doing.
When you get yours, would you please post a review of the gun?

Jay, saw your first impression video, gun seems solid, should be a good shooter

Re: EXCEL ARMS
After a long shipping delay I have my MP-5.7 accelerator
First impression is very good. gun feels very solid and balance is fine. I've only put about 50 eagle 40 gr rounds through it and so far it is very accurate. The fit and finish on all moving parts is very tight. The VERY limited manual calls for 200 rd break in period. I hope the trigger pull improves, because right now the pull is insanely hard. The 9 round magazine is well constructed, but in my opinion not well thought out. 9 rounds, well ok not a big deal, but you need a little pin (supplied) to load. would be much better if they put a little thumb nub on. Haven't chrono'd yet. Ill post results.
Happy with gun. It should be a great shooter

Re: EXCEL ARMS
I would like to say that I'm delighted with this pistol. I would like to say that Excel has excellent quality control. I would like to say they have outstanding customer service. UNFORTUNATLY I CAN'T. My pistol somehow got through quality control with an interference problem with trigger. Thought it might break-in, but after 250 rounds trigger still incredibly hard, and rear sight fell off!!! Customer service says 4-6 weeks. I do hope to get pistol back sometime, and I do hope that it performs well. Stay tuned

Both their QC and customer service are bottom of the barrel.
Re: EXCEL ARMS
You have previous experience with them? Can I ask what your issue was? Did they resolve to your satisfaction? Thanks
Re: EXCEL ARMS
I had one of the first ones they put out, I ended up trading it away for something else, its a okay gun, just didn't do anything for me.

Re: EXCEL ARMS
I have one of the latest versions where they changed the size of the loaded chamber window based on my recommendations
I have it with 2 barrel 6 and 8 inch.
Works fine so far, my only real complaint is the magazines. They could have done a better job engineering them.
NEVER take your magazine apart.

Re: EXCEL ARMS
If all would indulge my venting for a moment, I am very disappointed in Excel's QC, and Customer service. If this pistol was test fired it would of been noticed. trigger transfer interferes with bolt causing VERY hard trigger pull. No fired cases came with gun. Customer service has been very nonchalant and don't really seem to care about bad word of mouth. They have been like "oh well we'll look into it". and don't return my communication for days. That all being said, I am now in the 4-6 week period and should be getting some news on my gun soon. I run a small gun business and really believe in customer service. If this was my company, I would really look into problems like this.
sorry all, and thanks. hope to post accuracy and velocity info when I eventually get gun back!!!!!

Re: EXCEL ARMS
well, got pistol back. they put rear sight back on and did a little filling to slide. trigger pull seems much better, still too hard for a target gun in my opinion. doing some chrony work tomorrow with nos 40 gr, fbhp and 5.0 to 5.5 grns power pistol.
posting results soon. not too pleased with excel qc, but oh well lets see.

Re: EXCEL ARMS
Casting defect, rear rail screw post, only has 3/4 threads, so it keeps coming loose, feed/ejection is horrible, they won't answer phone, return calls, or answer email.kleinarms wrote:You have previous experience with them? I'm seriously thinking about bandsawing this thing into tiny little pieces and sending it back. F-'em.
